Is there any reason the emergency sirens are going off around KC right now, or did someone's finger slip?

the first tuesday of each month they test them

Today is Thursday.

I wonder if this has anything to do with the tornado warning thread directly above?

it's Wednesday when they test them and they are showing a Tornado Warning for several counties in KC and KCMO

it's real from what i can tell

They scheduled it to today because of stormy weather earlier this week

i looked it up, it was a drill.

Doesn't having random drills kind of defeat the purpose of emergency sirens?

the purpose of having the drills is so people go outside to see if there is a tornado.

Of course. The logic seems irrefutable.

I just now realized that having the monthly test of the system is counter-productive. I've been sitting here for the last few minutes just assuming it was a monthly test. It took me reading this thread to realize that it is, in fact, not the first Wednesday of the month.
