The Black Keys

Gotta new album coming out next week "Brothers". NPR is streaming it on their website all week. Sounds good. Anyone else give it a listen?

They are gonna be in KC on June 4th at Crossroads. Anyone going? I am going to try and make it up but I have a float trip planned the following weekend.

Sorry if repost

How are they gonna be in KC June 4th when they're supposed to be playing at Wakarusa at the same time(June 3-6)?

That what it says on their website

OK.. Looks like they'll play KC on the 4th, and play Wakarusa on the 5th.

I haven't listened to it yet. I'm really hoping it's grittier, like their older stuff (pre-Danger Mouse). I'm sure I'll be disappointed.

Can't stream it now, but I heard one song off the album already and liked it.
I thought Dan Auerbach's solo album wasn't half bad.

Listening to it now. Haven't gotten deep into it, but it sounds a lot like their last album/Auerbach's solo album. Much better than the majority of the shit out there, but I REALLY liked their dirty, made in a basement blues sound much better than their foray into overproduction.

In short

I guess I should give it a fair shake first...

Thickfreakness is the last album I have of theirs.. And rubberfactory? Or something like that. I saw them live in Oxford, MS back in 04 or 05.

Yes, and they're both amazing.

Rubber Factory is a great album. They probably won't top that. I saw them when they were touring just playing songs from that album. Awesome show.

Speaking of new releases, the National's High Violet came out yesterday. I've heard a couple of songs and it should be in Alligator/Boxer territory.

Ah, yes. Need to check this out. If it's like Boxer, it will be amazing.

Listened to it all, and it's fantastic. I'd say it's on par with Boxer, but I've only really listened through it once.

Love their theme song for "Hung", "i'll be your man"

I will be at Crossroads on June 4th to see the Keys. Can't ****ing wait. I too like their older stuff better but they are still above many new bands.

Check out this video from the new album. The song is Next Girl. It rocks and so does the video. Eye candy.
