Quarterback JaMarcus Russell worked out for the Washington Redskins on Tuesday as he looks to resurrect his NFL career.

Russell, the former No. 1 draft choice of the Oakland Raiders, was released in May. An Alabama grand jury declined to indict Russell last week on a felony drug possession charge related to a drink containing codeine syrup found at his home.

Tuesday, he worked out at Redskins Park, beginning at 11:30 a.m. ET. Several Redskins players Tweeted that Russell was at practice. He is one of 20 players the Redskins are working out on Tuesday.

Russell was 7-18 in three seasons as the starting quarterback with the Raiders.

Russell had been charged with felony possession of a controlled substance, a drink containing codeine syrup, when Mobile (Ala.) County sheriff's officers raided his home July 5. The defense contended the drink belonged to another person in Russell's home, where several people had gathered after the July 4th holiday. The grand jury decided not to indict.

Why would you bring in Jamarcus Russell when you have two QBs on your roster who have been to a Super Bowl? Not that they're the best QBs in the league or anything, but I'd rather have Tom Brady's pre-Super Bowl dump at QB than Russell.
