One Half of the Greatest Songwriting Duo in History Left us 31 years ago Today

RIP John Winston Lennon

Do you remember what you were doing that evening?

I was Barracks Rover Watch at Great Mistakes, Illinois watching MNF when Cosell made the announcement. Everyone stopped dead in their tracks. To you Mark David Chapman: I hope you rot in that prison and never are released.

I was in a crib not giving a **** about John Lennon and more worried about when someone was gonna come by and change my diaper.

i was at my inlaws when it came on the news. about 3 minutes after it was announced my father-in-law caught his son cheating at pitch and everything went fist-city. i laid my cards down and walked outside singing "give peace a chance" under my breath.

I remember being a kid and not really understanding it.
Years later I saw an interview with the guy who shot him, and the guy said he met John Lennon shortly before he shot him. He said he expected Lennon to be some big phony, but Lennon was nice to him and seemed like a genuinely good guy. But he shot him anyway. ****ing asshole.
