More fighting at sporting events

Add another fight at sporting events to the list. It makes me sick that this shit happens. I love sports as much as the next guy but what is it with guys not being able to take some smack talk from someone else?

NEW YORK -- The Philadelphia police department has released surveillance video of a brutal attack following Monday's Winter Classic game in an effort to identify the three suspects involved in the beating of two men wearing New York Rangers jerseys outside a South Philadelphia cheesesteak shack.

The graphic video shows three suspects wearing Philadelphia Flyers jerseys beating and kicking the two victims outside Geno's Steaks in South Philly at 7:15 p.m. ET.

One of the victims was an off-duty Woodbridge, N.J., police officer, according to Woodbridge Township spokesman John Hagerty. Hagerty confirmed to ESPNNewYork.com that the police officer, who is currently on medical leave until cleared to return to active duty, has been released from the hospital.

"He's in fine condition," Hagerty told ESPNNewYork.com. "He's resting and doing well."

Hagerty said the "investigation by the Philadelphia Police Department is ongoing," and that the Woodbridge Police Department has offered its assistance in the matter.

A Flyers-geared hockey website also has provided some help in identifying at least one of the suspects.

According to the website, Broad Street Hockey, one of the suspects identified himself on the site's Facebook fan page and admitted he took part in the attack, but then backtracked.

A source told ESPNNewYork.com that he later denied his involvement to police but will be interviewed Thursday.

Police are seeking assistance in identifying the three men and are asking anyone with information to call the Philadelphia Police South Detective Division.

Meh, that didn't look too bad.

And honestly a cop should know better than to go to South Philly decked out in NY Rangers gear after a game.

I must be getting too old, but why the F do people feel the need to fight , just because of the gear they have on?

Because they are drunk and stupid.

Sniff.

It's stupid to fight over a game, but it's not wise to go to a Flyer game in Rangers gear, or Buffalo or NJ gear for that matter.

Pretty lame if you ask me. Opponents fans can go to Arrowhead and be fine. Getting shit talked the whole game is perfectly fine, but putting a hand on somebody is ****ing lame.

Yeah, it's lame but it's reality. I'm sure you could go to a Flyers game in Rangers gear and be fine a lot of nights. But other nights you might run into someone looking for a fight. I've seen some pretty aggressive fans at hockey arenas.

Exactly

If you go into enemy territory, be prepared to get harassed like a MF'r, and rightfully so. I've been to plenty of away games for both college and professional sporting events, and I just roll with it. However, once it goes from harassment to physical, it just boggles the mind. We must be talking about some of the weakest minded MF'rs in the world. Seriously, chill.

And yes, Saul, I agree. Alcohol and/or drugs are probably the biggest issues with many of these physical altercations

I went to the KSU v Fresno State Football game in 2007. After FSU delivered a beating on the field, many of their sleazy trailer trash fans wanted to continue the beating outside the stadium. I had my wife and (at that time) 9 and 6 yr old boys with me. Some of these douchebags were getting in the face of my 9 year old. As much as I wanted to tater these assholes, I knew I was in a losing situation. You just keep on walking and making sure they are safe all the way into the car. You could not pay me to ever go back there again. Pure scum.
