POLICE say about 30 people may have contracted HIV from a 22-year-old who knowingly had the disease and secretly filmed himself having sex.

In October, Michael Johnson was charged with exposing partners to HIV in Missouri. It was only this month that police worked out that Johnson had allegedly set up a secret camera to film himself having sex and kept the files on his laptop.

"On that laptop were 32 videos (of partners) engaged in sexual acts with Mr Johnson," said St Charles County prosecutor Tim Lohmar.
