INDEPENDENCE SAYS EAT ME!
Good places for chow in Independence, my home town!
A couple things about this link: 1) the addresses on Hi-Boy and Mugs Up are reversed. Mugs Up is on 23rd St. There's actually three Hi-Boys in Independence; one on Blue Ridge just north of Arrowhead and close to Dixon's Chili, one at US 24 and River in North Independence near the Truman Library, and one at MO 291 and Gudgell, in East Independence north of the Independence Center. 2) Novella's is Half Can's place in the Independence Library across from Truman Library. 3) I like Tim's Pizza in south Independence better than Square Pizza on the Square. Best pizza in Independence is Fun House on US 40 Highway. 4) Courthouse Exchange has a spiced shrimp special on Friday nights that's great. 5) You can order "Chicken ala Hitler" at Das Rheinland. You can order it, but they don' think it's funny. I've tried. They have Warsteiner on draft, yum. Come eat! http://www.movoto.com/independence-m...e-restaurants/ |
I thought meth suppressed appetites.

Had hi-boy today.

Drove by Hi-Boy on 24 today. Was sorely tempted to go in.
|
Seriously though, Tim's Pizza is on my KC bucket list.

Use to get Mugs Up 2 or 3 times a year...the Chili Whiz Burger...loose meat with Cheese Whiz.

I've never been to Hi Boy.
sounds like I should go there. |
Rheinland Restaurant - so good. Grew up with a lot of German food and this place hits the spot.

Loose meat burgers were also sold at Clem's on 23rd St, and it's a specialty of the Maid-Rite in Lexington, MO. Baby Lee is right, it's kind of like taco meat without the taco spice. Mugs Up grounds up pickles and onions and mixes them in with the meat. It sounds weird, but it's good. And you can add some "Whizz" -Cheese Whiz- if you like. I like mine with extra Whizz.

I've never really wanted or gone to indep much...i've been to hi-boy a few times when i'm there though. Yum
