TLDL version?

Long story short - he found Jesus, enjoys spending time with his family, watches college film in the evening. Schefter told him how good of a job he did with 3rd round plus picks. Says KC is in a good position. Likes Alex Smith. Smith hates to lose, is very smart. Dorsey was surprised by his firing. He wants to get back into football. Establishing a winning culture is very important. Reminisce about drafting Rogers. Religion is big for Dorsey, talked about a pastor in Green Bay who was important to him who taught him about finding the good in everyone. (May explain his penchant for giving "problem" players a chance).

Overall it was a good interview. I'll always like Dorsey. He's the best pure football GM in Chiefs history.

Rausch 11-21-2017 08:43 PM

Looking back he wasn't perfect. He was excellent with later round picks and UDFA signings saving us money. He was horrible at top tier contracts and when it came to retaining talent costing us money. A bizarre combination of traits.

I don't like the timing or how he was let go but there's something else we don't know, clearly...

1. Lack of depth at running back

2. Lack of depth at wide receiver

3. Lack of depth at cornerback,

4. Lack of depth at inside linebacker

5. Lack of depth at outside linebacker.

6. Horrible Free Agent contracts

7. Horrible re-signings of existing players

8. Still backing Alex Smith

9. Cutting Maclin by text

I don't think he told the whole story.

Heh. No, they barely touched on it. Dorsey is trying to stay professional while he's waiting for his next front office gig. He'll be getting calls in January.

Was good at drafting for the most part. Dee Ford over a QB was awful. Horrible deals for older players and waiting too long to resign Houston and berry wrecked our cap.

I was a Dorsey fan but now he's gone the shine is off.

That said, he inherited a mess...

Red Dawg 11-22-2017 01:07 PM

He left a mess as well. He had better when he got here than Veech does now. Dorsey had 6 pro bowlers on the roster.

I can live with Dee Ford, because it means we ended up with Pat Mahomes... honest to God I wouldnt trade that kid for any of the other young hotshot QBs

Love his arm, love his freewheeling style of play, love his background/upbringing

I am in the same boat. Hated it at the time and really wanted Carr, but i really love Mahomes

When the only reasonable comparisons pro scouts and coaches can come up with are Favre and Rodgers... thats something to be very excited about

We had to wait 40 some years for our own homegrown QBOTF, but in this case... good things come to those who wait
