Mansionmania Tournament: Round 2, Heat 1 and Round 1 Map
1 Attachment(s)
As some discussion fodder from Round 1, I've enclosed a map showing our Round 2 contestants. Apparently we really like Florida and California, along with the West and New England. Note that the US Virgin Islands is still in the competition and isn't shown on the map. Looking through the list, we've picked some juggernauts who will duke it out in Round 2.
Mansionmania continues with our 32 2nd-round contestants. You will choose among each pair of houses with the following assumptions:
I encourage you to click on the maps in the listings to see the general location and neighborhood. Also, I will only enter contestants if they have a sufficient number of photos to judge, as determined by me. Your entries in this heat are: Georgia: https://www.realtor.com/realestatean...4_M94996-11832 South Carolina: https://www.realtor.com/realestatean...5_M67832-39919 |
My voting:
South Carolina is nice, but I don't really need beaches and I'm not really into beach-house interior design. The Georgia house is double the size, and I really like the style. It's on a lot of acreage, and even though it doesn't have a pool it's a clear winner for me in this heat. I like that Georgia house more than I remember. It's really nice. |
That's one hell of a home in Georgia. I prefer the S. Carolina one though. Sand will be a constant issue with how damned windy that area is though. Sometimes that blowing sand feels like a sand blaster and no amount of effort to keep it outside the home wprks and it will blast the paint right off the wood.

How's it looking for a house with a horse barn to take home the title?
|
Georgia, pretty easy choice given the similar weather.
|
I like the Georgia house better, but still voted SC due to the abundance of golf courses in the area.
|
I can’t stand the Georgia house. Even with the larger house and lot, I’d always be thinking about how much I hated my house. SC it is.

Oh! Indoor pool! Insulate it and add an indoor pool. I'd have to save some pennies from my stipend, but I could do it. |
Voted against Georgia in the last round. I just don't think I could roll up to that house and not feel like a pretentious douche.
SC and the money please. |

Common that I prefer the location of one and the house of the other. This time the location on the coast outdoes that opulent home in GA, but barely.
|
That Georgia house, while amazing, seems to be a mashup of houses from Gone with the Wind and Interview with the Vampire and it's overwhelming. And what is up with the Umbrella Corporation's symbol in the middle of the foyer, anyway? Bad juju in that house.
The SC is way more muted and frankly almost boring for the price, but give me the beach, golf, and extra money. |
I'll take the South Carolina ocean view over the pretentious over-the-top Georgia house that doesn't have one.
|
SC plus a half million bucks, yeah I think I could make that work.
GA is cool, but I couldn't live in something like that. |
There are elements of the GA home and property that I like better than the SC home, but there are also a lot of elements of the GA home that I outright hate.
Taking the SC home and they money. ETA: just a straight shot down the water would put Savannah, GA in range, if I had a boat would that count in the rules for this contest? |
