KC downtown project Penway Point

I think this is a good idea it will add more to do in Kansas City anyway.

It will be in the Crossroads district near the IRS building so it's a central location in the city. There is basically a whole lot of nothing there now might as well put something there.

When someone asks what's something to do in KC you can mention this to them in the future.

Pennway Point is what it will be called and it will feature a 170 foot Ferris Wheel, a neon sign museum and for dozens of local eateries, a winery, beach volleyball and bars.

There are plans for a big screen TV to watch the Kansas City Chiefs and Royals, a miniature golf course in the summer and ice-skating rink in the winter.

Projected to open in 2023.

Ferris wheel but no tilt-a-whirl?

Lame.

Downtown Kansas City keeps getting nicer and nicer. Royals ballpark is going to be a game changer.

ChiefBlueCFC 03-18-2022 12:36 PM

So an actual ferris wheel and not those big observation ferris wheel type thing that is in London and Vegas.

We are moving to back to KC this summer so its awesome that they keep trying to make KC a better city

It amazes me how people are against a downtown ballpark

I was s Tilt-a-Whirl junkie as a young kid into my teens growing up next to Seaside Heights boardwalk on the Jersey Shore.

The Jet Star roller coaster, Tilt-a-Whirl, Swiss Bob super fast ride, Fun House, The Swings, The Log Flume, The Zipper cages the flipped you around on a ferris wheel, the Round Up were you spun around pinned to the wall as the floor dropped, and the Haunted Castle ride.

Oh the fun I had as a kid!

Rides were .25 and now around $5

Change and fear of no surface parking lots. I was just up in KC this week for business. Stayed downtown in the Crossroads, walked over to PNL for dinner and drinks so nice. Other than the douchebag fans of Tool who were playing at Sprint Center.

They don’t want to pay for it. And that’s not illogical.

Reading the article it sounds like it will be enclosed like the one in Vegas.

I get the not paying for it part but the biggest push back I've seen is parking and traffic which isn't true

Yeah, continue to develop the central business district of a city that continues to lose business year after year.

Great plan.

Best city ballparks are Camden Yards in Baltimore, Oracle Park in San Fran, PNC Park in Pittsburgh, Comerica Park in Detroit.

Baseball is suited better for cities.

Football stadiums not so much. Too many people

More room for storefronts selling Kansas City branded apparel

HonestChieffan 03-18-2022 03:21 PM

I never gave much thought to the foot print of the area but it sounds like a good idea. Would also make it feel like Boulevard Brewery was not so isolated as a destination.
