LNBS: This feels like we’re coiling to strike.
Am I just a few too many drinks in tonight, or does it seem like Veach is getting ready to take a huge swing for a stud either in the draft or trading for an elite WR or edge guy?
AJ Brown said KC tried to trade for him last offseason, so it was clearly a Tyreek thing and Veach wants an elite WR. He also knows he has a hole at DT that would be playing next to Jones and George…adding a difference maker there like a Justin Simmons or Quinnen Williams would be incredible. I may be crazy…but I think Veach is itching to add another blue chip guy to this team. Like…a really big swing. Guys I can see him targeting for a trade because they become FAs next year…or their QB has a payday coming up and they can be persuaded to move a valuable piece…or a scheme change…or I’m sure some of these I’m just dreaming. Nick Bosa Quinnen Williams Tristan Wirfs Brian Burns Justin Jefferson Brandon Aiyuk Montez Sweat Jeffrey Simmons Or maybe Veach targets some guys he wants and is willing to swing for the fences for that the other team might be willing to extract value while it’s still there like Jaylen Waddle or a Devonte Smith. Maybe it’s not a current NFL player he’s targeting. Maybe he’s planning on making a big splash on draft night with a big trade up and that’s why the pre combine QnA was built with purely softball questions and answers. No way 10 draft picks make this roster. He’s stacked the roster with quality starters and depth across the board. Adding quality over quantity makes a ton of sense. Even using this years 1 and 3 and next years first to move wayyy up I bet is absolutely in play. What way to introduce a new weapon could be better than the world champs trading up to get you in the top 10-15 picks with the draft being in KC and being able to go right to the facility and meet Mahomes, Andy, Nagy, Spags and Veach right away? Incredible to think about. |
The tea leaves in free agency read that way exactly.
They'll get Hopkins and add someone crazy on the DL, whether it's a trade or moving up in the draft. We're all in this year. |
Hopefully he’s as successful as the coil strike I cinched off at Kohl’s in the Northland this morning

I definitely think veach has something brewing.
For some reason i keep coming back to michael pittman. He doesnt fit the speed characteristics, but he has elite size and has performed well in dumpster fire indy. He is at the end of his contract and indy is rebuilding. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

I genuinely think we already have Chris Jones signed to a 3 year extension that will clear 17-20m in cap space…but won’t make it official until it’s strategically advantageous to do so. Half the league has no cap space and a handful of mega bargains will be out there still after the draft and teams will have players to move during the draft we might pull the trigger on. Buckle up because we’re just getting started. This place is going to get its ****ing BURST back, baby! |
Our QB is soooooooo good that the flip side argument would be for the clubs being approached by Veach about their star players, "why should we allow you to become EVEN MORE DOMINANT therefore we will deal our star expensive players to anyone else BUT THE CHIEFS". I can see this happening JUST BECAUSE PAT IS THAT GOOD !!

Hill Hardman Toney MVS Skyy 4.2-low 4.4 guys Veach wants a guy that can threaten the top of the defense while being able to exploit the underneath stuff, as well. |

Also…a guy I can see them trading for in the next year or so? Jameson Williams. |

That may be true for our divisional and conference rival teams, but ultimately the rest of the nfl is going to do whats best for themselves. If that means parting with a player they know isnt part of their plan going forward for draft comp they will jump. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

I agree completely. Its just a name that i keep thinking about as available and not super high comp required that could round out the wr room here. Also of note, juju had a mid 4.5 40 too and the chiefs pursued him two years in a row. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

I would love Jameson Williams  |
I don’t think Bosa or Jefferson are realistic at all. Those are the guys you keep, the same way we keep Chris Jones.
When we think about the biggest punches Veach has thrown, only the Frank Clark and Mahomes (Dorsey, yeah yeah…) fall into that bucket as far as punches “landed.” He did swing mightily at Trent Williams but that didn’t work out (thank God). I don’t think he is too shy to be aggressive AF if is at a critical position - QB, LT, DE. I’m not so sure he makes a swing like that for a WR, though next year targeting Marvin Harrison Jr would be a WR possibly worth swinging for. Clark is the only player Veach has used high picks and lots of cap on simultaneously. I wonder if he feels burned by that, or if he has learned to be more discerning. I don’t know that there’s a player in this class that we go up to 10-15 for. The 3rd OT? The 4th DE? I just dunno. |

I don't think they make a major move, but I do see something like the Hopkins trade or a similar move that nobody sees coming.
I can also see them being very aggressive in the draft. |
