WHAT HAPPENED TO PRIEST IN THE PASSING GAME?

I've been away from the NFL. Is it just me, or has Saunders really cut Holmes out of the passing game a lot? He used to really get a lot of touches in the air which kept the other defense honest. Didn't Priest lead the team in receiving one season? He caught 2 for -2 yds against the Donx and had 3 for 16 today.

It sure seems that the chiefs O is getting more one-dimensional. Richardson used to be a big part of the receiving game as well. Dang, Carolina was hitting back up TEs, the FB, the 3rd string WRs, the towel boy, etc...

Teams seem to be betting on keeping Priest as tight as they can, double teaming Tony "I'm as good as a WR" Gonzales and daring the chiefs to use anybody else. It seems to be working.

:(

He does not want to be part of the recieving game.. He wants to save himself for bigger runs, when the O doesnt hold...

Its amazing, because the Chiefs 2-minute offense is to run Holmes...

...It just seemed like he was a bigger threat when he was involved in the passing game, a la Faulk. If we don't get some help on the perimeter game, even a Priest Holmes won't be enough.

Well we need to get back to our winning ways and that means moving the ball around and getting it into Priests hands in several different ways. He definately needs to be more involved he only had like 19 touches today.

I'm more concerned about him getting the ball in running the game. AS has this tendency (and has over the past three seasons) to want to prove his high octane passing game is just as good as Holmes. It might be if you have a real threat at WR, and we don't. If we get a running game established with Priest, everything else will start to fall in to place.

BTW Johnny, it's good to see you back safe and sound.

Welcome back to the post game pissing match.

I Think Saunders spilled Gunther's spit cup on the playbook and can no longer read the Swing pass and screens for running backs, page.

You know I was thinking the same thing. I didn't know when he came back and thought he may have been back a while and I just missed it.

So to you KCJohnny :toast: My most sincere gratitude for your service and welcome back.

it looked like carolina's d was just too fast, both on the d line and lb's...

no use calling plays that won't work...

some of the swing/short passes that were called didn't do much either...

and the perimeter running game just didn't look good, but i think that has more to do with carolina's defense than anything...

Today is the first day I have seen him posting. Frankly, I was shocked.

Its going to be easy to piss and moan about the offenses production...but.....Both the Donks and the Panthers have very, very stout defenses.

The fact that our defense didn't dominate a rebuilt line again this week, gave up huge numbers on the ground is just preparation. The offense is going to have to piggy back the team again.

I have faith, that the Offense will find its rythem and success again. I have faith that the Defense will improve enough to allow the offense to get in the game.

The defense holding ANY opponent to 24 points should be enough to win....especially at home, and when the defense puts up 7pnts.

i think that was true last year, when our o routinely put up 30 points or more...

but that was against a much easier schedule...

playing good defenses, like the last two and like many to come, our o is not going to score like it did last year...

the d will have to hold opponents to a lot less than 24 if we want to win more than a handful of games this year...

KCJohnny 09-19-2004 04:59 PM

I agree that the Panthers D was awesome. That is no shame on KC. The Panthers are the defending NFC champs. The Chiefs have only bagged four Ws in the last 9 tries. I don't like that trend. Just seemed like Holmes was a way to spread the ball around the field in the air. SOMEbody needs to step up on offense, even if its a rookie. I think Hall needs more touches on offense. I mean, what good is it to start him at WR and not use him? Is there any D out there afraid of Johnny "you want me to jump up THERE?" Morton?

Priest in the passing game?

How about just "WHAT HAPPENED TO PRIEST?"

Al Saunders completely took him out of the game. Giving the best RB in the league 16 carries is inexcusable.
