More clean, hard-nosed play from the Donkeys...

from the Denver Post (note the headline)...

HIT OF THE DAY

It was an unfortunate sight late in the third quarter when Broncos fullback Reuben Droughns and left tackle Matt Lepsis hit Jacksonville defensive lineman Paul Spicer. Spicer broke his right leg on the play. Droughns blocked Spicer high and Lepsis, who appeared not to see Droughns, hit Spicer low. The play upset several Jacksonville players. Fans booed Broncos players when they consoled Spicer while he was on a cart, leaving the field.

Figures. When is the league going to do something about these dirty bastards? :cuss:

What was even better was having to listen to one of the Baldinger bros color commentary saying that the guy was down with heat exhaustion while his foot was turned 180 degrees and there putting an air cast on his leg.

1st runner up for dirtiest play of the day...

(From Baltimore Sun)

What won't be forgotten anytime soon was how Todd Heap was treated after spraining his right ankle.

In obvious pain and favoring his injured leg, Heap still lined up so the Ravens could spike the ball to stop the clock near the end of the first half, only to be shoved to the ground by Pittsburgh linebacker Joey Porter. Heap was helped by trainers back to the locker room, where X-rays were negative.

"That's Porter," Jamal Lewis said. "He's a cheap guy. Would you expect anything different from him? That's low, but we'll see him again."

jspchief 09-20-2004 01:25 PM

There was no competitive advantage.
It was a clean Hit.
We do not cheat.
etc., etc., etc.

The part that's hard for me to believe is that Lepsis was going at the guy's legs. Denver never plays that way.

I saw that play. I thought it was rather funny. Not that Heap got hurt, but he was standing with his hands holding himself up and then Porter just rolled him.

i was watching the game at a bar and everyone was like, get off the field stupid mormon

If I was heap Porter's nuts would have a BIG bullseye on them come rematch time. I'd jack his ass up good.

So, when the refs threw the flag on that play where Spice's leg was broken, what did they say the penalty was for?

ChiefsCountry 09-20-2004 06:25 PM

Man right now I would take a cheap shot from the Chiefs defense, at least we would be putting someone on the ground.

Wha? Flag? Now I'm confused, because last week a flag didn't indicate an illegal hit. Now all of a sudden you need one?

If I were Joey Porter, I'd be very afraid...

You guys didn't hear the entire quote from Lewis.

No, I was just wondering. I take it from your response that there was no flag on the play? So I can just chalk this up to The Chiefs Planet definition of whining: "There was no flag so STFD and STFU".
