The Predator

<iframe width="560" height="315" src="https://www.youtube.com/embed/50_Ala5BKBo" frameborder="0" allow="autoplay; encrypted-media" allowfullscreen></iframe>

looks pretty good even if they went a bit overboard with gore. (CGI gore looks too globulous)

the new The Predator was written by Shane Black (Dawkins). So here's hoping for some more big pussy jokes to go along with the Predators oversized maw.

Bowser 09-02-2018 08:49 AM

This is likely to be over the top gore porn like you said, but I'll be in for it.

Fish 09-02-2018 09:16 AM

This one is like Hulk sized even....

Sooo... the good guy is a predator, and the bad guy is an even bigger predator?

Sure-Oz 09-02-2018 10:16 PM

Has the dude from Narcos and Logan as the main guy. Hopefully it'll be entertaining.

Just Passin' By 09-03-2018 12:12 AM

I'm not sure the world needed a super duper predator.

FB fanatic 09-03-2018 08:07 AM

Can't wait to see this. Expected to be a gore fest as well.

notorious 09-03-2018 08:28 AM

Meh. Just can’t get excited.

Since 2 they haven’t came approached the same universe of greatness of the 1st.

Deberg_1990 09-03-2018 08:38 AM

Written and directed by Shane Black. Im all in.

lawrenceRaider 09-03-2018 09:00 AM

I'm in. Hopefully will be awesomely horrendously great.

CoMoChief 09-03-2018 09:20 PM

Super Shredder?

sully1983 09-04-2018 09:33 AM

Doesn't look that good imo & I see that Shane Black turned this into an action / comedy . Thats not what I was hoping for but I guess I shouldn't be too surprised since comedy is his thing (The Nice Guys & Kiss Kiss Bang Bang) . Was hoping for something more dark/serious & gritty .

I'll probably go see The Nun over this one depending on the reviews.

Beef Supreme 09-04-2018 10:51 AM

Get to the choppa?

Simply Red 09-04-2018 11:00 AM

i can get down to this, sure!

Critics Consensus: The Predator has violence and quips to spare, but its chaotically hollow action adds up to another missed opportunity for a franchise increasingly defined by disappointment.

If I could do one of those flow charts, it would be simple:

"Does your Predator movie have Arnold playing Dutch?"

If the answer is yes -- "Go ahead and make that movie"
If the answer is no -- "Do not make this movie"

The property itself isn't what made that movie great. Arnold achieving 'Peak Arnold' in a pack of alpha males and fighting a ****ing alien is what made that movie great.

You're not going to recapture that by putting a guy who's about the size of the average american in Camo, handing him a gun and telling Key to crack a few jokes.

I don't understand why studios keep thinking they're going to bring this back.

The first movie had great, interesting characters that were discovering the Predator along with the viewer.

The second movie managed to have another interesting set of characters along with a gritty, city setting. Not as much mystery, but still very good.

They all turn into piles of shit after that. Mystery is gone, no interesting characters. Kill this franchise now.

Gravedigger 09-14-2018 12:04 PM

A couple of gripes after sleeping on it:

As with Iron Man 3 there's too much emphasis, unbelievable emphasis, on the kid. Nobody cares about the kid or what he can do or his comedic timing. Stop putting children in movies they don't belong in and giving them super important parts.

The way this film was cut was horrendous. Important bits of dialogue aren't thought about, their just said quickly and then it's onto the next scene. This is apparent in the ending more so than ever, where deaths happen so instantaneously that the audience doesn't get to appreciate or feel remorse for any of the team or the red shirts. There was one death, to an interesting character, that happens so quick, and so close up, that you can safely assume what happens, but the kill happened so close up and really made no sense that it was pointless, and that particular character deserved so much better.

The end is a joke, badly acted, bad CGI, bad dialogue, just bad. There's not going to be a sequel to this particular movie, trust me on that, so there was no point in shooting that sequence. Take the end sequence out, and extend the final fight and give the characters more backstory, or deaths that aren't so abrupt.

The cool Predator scenes are overshadowed by the mindless, or bad Predator scenes. The Predator hounds are useless in this movie and make no sense throughout the entirety of it. The cool dialogue that makes you laugh, or think that's a nice callback, is overshadowed by the bad dialogue that makes no sense and is a reach for laughs. That's pretty much the overall point of this movie; the cool is overshadowed by the bad, and that's why I liken it to AVP.

so it sucks, eh?

JD10367 09-14-2018 07:43 PM

The only thing that would make this interesting is if Yvonne Strahovski and Olivia Munn have a nude lesbian sex scene.

RINGLEADER 09-14-2018 08:23 PM

So I read the script to this a year ago. It was awful then and the final product is even worse.

Won’t spoil anything but this movie manages to top the worst concept for a Predator film that you could ever dream up. It’s just awful, stupid, and dumb all wrapped into one with global warming sprinkled on the top.

Deberg_1990 09-14-2018 08:58 PM

Well this sucks this never happened......The original ending...Audiences would have went nuts for this.

Spoiler!

Valiant 09-17-2018 08:07 AM

It was fun outside of the horrible ending and fight. They should have had better deaths.

Only reason it got rated r was for language. The violence and gore was pg13.

I liked predators more.

Yes, it blew balls

There were moments of laughter but a lot of the humor was forced.

Even for Predator standards the storyline had too many leaps of suspension of belief

seaofred 12-26-2018 01:53 PM

I watched this today. It’s my fact since the 1st one.

Halfcan 12-26-2018 03:40 PM

This movie was so exciting I fell asleep. Had a lot of potential but terrible storyline and ending. A pale comparison to the original.

Deberg_1990 12-26-2018 04:01 PM

Watched it a few weeks ago. It was ok, but nothing special. I wasn’t bored. I’d give it a C+

Did have some funny jokes and one liners. I expected more though.

I laughed at "Get to the chopper!"

They actually decently laid the groundwork for a Predator universe story, but this movie was too much schlock. Probably won't get a sequel or any more of what could have made for an interesting movie. Bad movie, but guilty pleasure kind of deal. I was kinda surprised at a few of the names that were in it, too.

notorious 12-26-2018 11:33 PM

God damn this movie is a pile of shit. Flat out terrible.

This franchise is dead.

Predator blades to the taint, a Predator getting his head and spine ripped off, multiple decapitations with a steel cable, heads getting detonated right and left, a tranquilizer dart through a mother****er's eye, a dude getting chopped in half by a forcefield and his stump flying off into the distance, and you think this was PG-13 gore?

It was by no means good or logical, but I couldn't stop smiling the entire time I watched it.

None of the Gore was really visual. Shown at a distance and not on the level of predator 1 and 2.

Five of us on this board could have come up with a better story.

WTF Hollywood believes you have to have a) a kid in movies like this and b) a super-sized "whatever it is" to attract fans is beyond me. In this case is misfired spectacularly.

Why not just pick a current war zone and have the Predator come in and f*** s*** up?

Jerm 01-15-2019 10:42 AM

Finally got around to watching this last weekend.....Shane Black, what in the **** were you thinking?

Ugh what an awful movie....completely nonsensical story that goes all over the place, horrible dialog, the humor doesn't land at all and there's way too much of it, and that ending....woof.

I love the Predator series but my God what a step back for the franchise....

The word is that it was heavily chopped up by FOX.

Not sure it would have saved it 100% though?

Your right, it was a little too hokey and didn’t take the premise seriously enough

Apparently the third act was completely re-shot, the rumors of what it was though didn't sound any better...

Spoiler!

Just don't know why they don't go the anthology route and place Predators in different historical periods/battles...

I mean they've moved completely away from the original idea of aliens who are drawn to conflicts here and hunt for sport and man being afraid of something that's greater than itself...its damn cool AND WORKS. Keep it simple.

Now we've gone way off of reservation and get shit like this...

sully1983 01-15-2019 10:37 PM

the director Shane Black is a flat out douche bag for the way he directed this . Its hands down the worst film I saw in 2018 . I know I know , Black was an actor in the 1st Predator film and did a good job with The Nice Guys but jfc he was so wrong to direct this one. Basically turning it into a slap stick action / comedy (which wasn't remotely funny either ) .
He had a good cast to work with but reduced Thomas Jane into a joke in this.
I seriously had 2nd hand embarrassment for all those involved.
3/10

and as someone else pointed out on here, that's all folks! This franchise is DEAD.
