What is Andy Reid actually good at?
We all know he's terrible at clock management. We all know he clams up in the playoffs. But what is he actually good at?
This team isn't disciplined. They draw a million flags a game and consistently make stupid decisions. The playcalls are seemingly random, with no regard for situation or matchups. When somebody gets hurt, nobody seems to be capable of stepping up. And as evidenced by the first half today against one of the worst teams in the league, Reid doesn't seem to be good at bye weeks anymore either. So again, I ask... what is Andy Reid ACTUALLY good at????? |
Stupid ****ing thread

Beating bad teams and mediocre teams.

He's good at being just above average. Playing the odds. Everything about this team is about never risking enough to put your job at risk. If he was a poker player, he'd be the guy that always fold unless he's got a monster hand, going deep into the tourney while his chip pile slowly dwindles to the ante.
For everything CP used to criticize Lamar and Carl Peterson over, Andy Reid and Bob Sutton are their dream coaches. You don't lose fans in droves by winning 10 games per year. Low risk, results slightly above the mean. Sent from my SM-G920V using Tapatalk |

It's insane to me that there are still long time Chiefs fans who are content with modest regular season success and think critically examining a coach's actual skills is "stupid" but whatever!!!!!!!!!! Andy Reid has a million wins in September so he's definitely GREAT!!!!!!!!!

If you think Phat-Andy is about "playing the odds" or trying to be mediocre you're a ****ing idiot. Not wrong, YOU ARE A ****ING IDIOT. |
Regular season wins, basically.
He creates a great locker room and team environment. That will usually get you a long HC career in the NFL |

He's a small notch above Marty Schottenheimer. But at least Marty's teams played with fire.

Pretty, pretty, pretty good at going an entire year without a WR touchdown.
|
He's actually a really creative playcaller. Certainly one of the few best in the NFL. However, you can only get by with smoke and mirrors for so long. Their success was predicated upon motion and misdirection. Once you stop staying in man, Smith has to make NFL throws, and he won't do it.

He's really good at having our pass catchers throw interceptions!!!! ULTIMATE FOOTBALL GENIOUS!!!!!!!

He does a spot-on Marty Schottenheimer impression.

We should have kept Dorsey and Pederson, fired Reid instead.

I'll bet he could crush a half dozen box of glazed doughnuts

For the eleventy billionth time:
He's one of the best "buy-in" coaches in the league. Witness the transformation of his first season in KC. Not a whole lot changed on the roster, but that 2-14 team was suddenly on it's way to the playoffs. Positives: Steady coach, rarely sports a losing season. Great offensive mind, allegedly possesses one of the most complex and thick offensive playbooks in the business. General positive attitude coaching style, prefers to win hearts and minds rather than motivate through fear or intimidation. Negatives: Slow to make change when personnel is clearly in need of some bench time or discipline. Orchestration of offensive drives; this one pretty much speaks for itself. :) Egoli; oh yes, it's there, and in spades to the close observer. Reid can not seem to separate himself from what's good for Reid vs what's good for the team. Good ol'boy club member; Reid is certainly not the only member of this shitty fraternity, but he's one of its most ardent adherents. Do not expect to see fresh, young, and innovative prospects show up in the Reid Coaching Clubhouse, at least not in the upper tiers. |
Being a below average team is a staple of Reid
|
He's good at maintaining employment
|
Managing "Shitty Attitude" players and half time adjustments. That's about it.

This is such a well-disciplined team. Gotta give Reid credit for that.

He’s pretty good at standing on the sidelines with a clueless moronic look on his face when his team does something stupid....
|
Andy Reid is still a good offensive coach. He has his faults. But I give him that. This entire offense is built around gimmicks to hide our qb. Even our deep balls seem designed around taking advantage of defenses playing up on him. I'm still convinced mahomes is a lot more the style Reid has been successful with and it will show.
Our game management is a different story. And who knows how we fix this defense. |
The best thing I can say about andy is he allowed nagy to call the offense.
And the results to me show andy is wasting our time. |
Watch this if you have 5 min.

I am not his biggest fan but he is pretty much unanimously rated as a top 10, max top 15 HC. Some think he is one of the very best.
Look elsewhere to criticize. |

Andy Reid is not the biggest issue that needs to be addressed right now... Him giving away his OC duties and calling plays might have saved that man's career in KC. It's on Smith and the inconsistent defense that can't adjust because of Bob Sutton.
|
Buffets, he’s good at buffets.
|
It's all about a better, nastier defense combined with a QB that can make Reid look like a minor deity.
Phase One Complete. Fire dumbassed Buttons, and we can get on to Phase Two. |
**** you caracus. Andy Reid is a good coach.
