The Right Fifty Three
I took a quick stab at putting together a 53-man roster. I've never done this before, so it's quite possible I've overlooked something or taken one too many or too few of some position or another. Also, I didn't try to make this a depth chart at all, just a list of names. Go easy on me. :)
How would you change it? QB Cassel, Matt Quinn, Brady Stanzi, Ricky RB Charles, Jammal Hillis, Peyton Draughn, Shaun Gray, Cyrus FB Bannon, Shane WR Bowe, Dwayne Baldwin, Jon Breaston, Steve McCluster, Dexter Wylie, Devon Copper, Terrance Horne, Jeremy TE Moeaki, Tony Boss, Kevin Maneri, Steve OL Albert, Brandon Lilja, Ryan Hudson, Rodney Asamoah, Jon Winston, Eric Allen, Jeff Stephenson, Donald Mims, David DL Dorsey, Glenn Jackson, Tyson Toribio, Anthony Poe, Dontari Powe, Jerrell Pitoitua, Ropati Bailey, Allen Gordon, Amon OLB Hali, Tamba Huston, Justin Studebaker, Andy ILB Johnson, Derrick Belcher, Jovan Siler, Brandon Sheffield, Cameron Greenwood, Cory CB Flowers, Brandon Routt, Stanford Brown, Jalil Arenas, Javier Menzie, De'Quan S Berry, Eric Lewis, Kendrick Elam, Abram Daniels, Travis P Colquitt, Dustin K Succop, Ryan |
We'll only keep 6 WRs
You forgot Thomas Gafford. Sheffield is an OLB. Horne sucks. |
Yep, other than the above it looks fine.
|
shane bannon sucks too no way he makes it
|
Hemingway > Horne
Mark it down |

there are other guys they are trying at the position, especially if you watched the first preseason game. I expect the same in game 2. They will form a decision by the end of game 4 on what sort of hybrid player they can carry at FB/H-Back/TE/etc |
Horne isn't making it, and Bannon is no guarantee, either.
The 610 guys were actually making a good argument to us keeping only 2 QBs yesterday, freeing up a spot for another DB, LB, or OL. Good list. Tell ENDelt we all said hi. |
i also thought about the only keeping 2 QBs thing lol
|
lol......3 OLBs?
|
He has Sheff. listed as an ILB
|
Not bad. I think Bellamy makes the team though.

I had to cut Bair to make room. |
Studebaker's making the team dude.

Let's assume all of these guys are healthy for gameday action. What would your inactive list look like for Week 1? |
Quote:
I cut Stude and give Jones a shot. |
Quote:
How long's the list, again? 7 inactives? |
Assuming it's seven, my inactives on week 1 (damn this is hard...):
Quinn Gray Bruggeman Powe Bailey/Pitoitua/Gordon -- whoever the 3rd string DE is Jones Menzie That was insanely difficult. And other than Quinn, I hate having them all inactive. |
I wouldn't be surprised to see Wiley inactive.

that's the thing about the carrying 3 QBs. If you are a homer and honestly believe Stanzi will win the 2 job and suit up every week (which is fine to think) then you have to be realistic and believe there is no way Quinn will be on this team to NOT suit up and be inactive. They will just flat out cut him and give him the benefit of the doubt he lands with another team. That will free up a roster spot easily.
I still think they defer to him as #2 because he's a veteran and Stanzi wont be suiting up and will be on the inactive every week, but that's just me. |

One more. I'd probably go with Stephenson, honestly. He's not going to be very helpful anyway if Winston or Albert went down. Dude still has some problems. Jeff Allen would play LT if it were Albert. If it's Winston then... damn... shift Albert over and put in Allen? No clue. |

The issue is selecting from the group of guys we have. Carrying Quinn as the 3 takes up one inactive roster spot, which helps us out tremendously. It actually frees us up to suit up Greenwood, Wylie, or another key special teamer. |
Honestly, I wouldn't be all that surprised to see Poe get put on the inactive for a few weeks. The dude needs time, and it's far better to do that while Poe is still figuring stuff out than to deny a valuable contributor like Gordon or Country Strong

I don't know if I'll be able to stand the freakout from OTW and Clay when it happens, but yup. |
Quote:
i dont buy that at all. Especially if he has any sort of ego to him. I assume he will just asked to be released and I wouldnt blame him. If Stanzi earns and wins the 2, let him be the 2. Cut Quinn and sign some scrub QB to be on the practice squad. No reason to ever have two QBs on the roster that do the same thing. |

Q: Why will Matt Cassel never get a job as a road construction worker?
A: People still remember the last time he graded out perfectly |
"Dumbass making dumbass catch-phrase" for $500.00, Alex?
|
You guys don't think draft choice Jerome Long makes the team? Practice squad?
|
Quote:
He's a very good project to undertake. |
I'm thinking Wylie will be the punt returner.
|
Quote:
Wylie better be a damn good kick returner, bouncing McCluster from sharing those duties with Arenas, or he's likely to end up inactive. |
Copper and Studebaker may be on the bubble.
|
7 WR? LMAO

Dude, both our fullbacks suck
Eauchus or whatever (45?) played like an asshat last week. |
Quote:
Both will make the team. If anything both kickass in ST. |
Looks good,
but I see you didn't list a QB |
6 WR's
Bowe Baldwin Breaston McCluster Wylie Copper (prob won't get much playing time on offense, but he is a stud on ST) |
Copper makes this team hes on the 2nd team offense in preseason for goodness sake. lol

Eachus has some game. I imagine the Chiefs could be hunting for a FB when cuts come, however. |

Why do some hate Copper and Studebaker? Copper is really good on special teams. He also gets more playing time than you think. He has been like the Travis Daniels of offense. He's a solid player. Studebaker is the same when way. He's great on special teams and good when he plays in games. Neither one of them are going anywhere. |

Cassel, Matt Quinn, Brady RB Charles, Jammal Hillis, Peyton Draughn, Shaun Gray, Cyrus FB Free Agent that gets cut (Hopefully Ovie Mughelli) WR Bowe, Dwayne Baldwin, Jon Breaston, Steve McCluster, Dexter Wylie, Devon Copper, Terrance TE Moeaki, Tony Boss, Kevin Maneri, Steve OL Albert, Brandon Lilja, Ryan Hudson, Rodney Asamoah, Jon Winston, Eric Allen, Jeff Stephenson, Donald Mims, David DL Dorsey, Glenn Jackson, Tyson Toribio, Anthony Poe, Dontari Powe, Jerrell Bailey, Allen Gordon, Amon OLB Hali, Tamba Huston, Justin Studebaker, Andy Sheffield, Cameron Jones, Edgar ILB Johnson, Derrick Belcher, Jovan Siler, Brandon Greenwood, Cory CB Flowers, Brandon Routt, Stanford Brown, Jalil Arenas, Javier Reeves, Jaques Menzie, De'Quan S Berry, Eric Lewis, Kendrick Elam, Abram Daniels, Travis Washington, Donald P Colquitt, Dustin K Succop, Ryan Practice Squad: Stanzi, Ricky QB Miller, Gabe OLB Hemingway, Junior WR Long, Jerome DE Thorpe, Neiko CB Patterson, Luke C Harris, Darryl G Eachus, Nate RB/FB |
Harris is ineligible for the practice squad, and it's not a big ****ing deal to take up a roster spot with a 3rd QB. Teams need to inactivate 8 players anyway. May as well burn one on the 3rd QB so others can have a chance to get snaps.
|
No way old D-Wash makes this team. He's been a figment of the imagination all preseason. I think he's gone and we go with some your guy like Hartman, although none of them have looked very good. We might even sign a safety post camp cuts...maybe...
