okoye35chiefs 12-05-2012 09:40 AM

i've watched them all this year and besides the eddie debartolo episode the barry sanders episode is what i can not wait to see.

so many different stories about why he walked away when he did

ChiefMojo 12-05-2012 10:02 AM

I'm excited to watch it also as Barry was one of my all time favorite. I love the A Football Life shows.

Beef Supreme 12-05-2012 10:37 AM

I played on the same team with Barry and his brother Byron when we were kids. Played against him in high school. My brush with greatness...heh. Looking forward to watching this one.

That's pretty badass! I still remember pee-wee football like it was yesterday, and could still probably name half my teammates.... and this was in 6th grade.

okoye35chiefs 12-06-2012 06:22 PM

2600 yards.. 39 tds in 11 games
.wow

Peewee in 6th grade?

Here in Texas, we have 6'5", 300 offensive linemen playing varsity ball in 6th grade.

Bump 12-06-2012 06:30 PM

I dont care what anyone says, Barry Sanders is the GOAT at the running back position.

Of course, they're 17.

THIS.

stonedstooge 12-06-2012 06:40 PM

He definitely had talent in certain areas that not many others have had. Best of All Time? Could be

Brock 12-06-2012 06:41 PM

He was pretty good.

Molitoth 12-06-2012 06:46 PM

This was an excellent show. I love a Football Life series. Marcus Allen next week!

stonedstooge 12-06-2012 06:47 PM

Yeah the show was excellent last night. I hope next weeks is just as good

Molitoth 12-06-2012 06:58 PM

Barry Sanders was the epitome of class.
It's amazing how different he was than any superstars today.

Cannibal 12-06-2012 07:11 PM

Really enjoyed Sander's episode of the show. I agree that he was the epitome of class. Although Sanders has been immortalized as a Detroit Lion, who knows what he could have accomplished with a Superbowl caliber team.

Emmit smith only wishes he had a 10th of the talent Sanders possessed.

Rugby Thompson 12-06-2012 07:11 PM

NFL network sucks and a football life is alright but it fails compared to what NFL films used to do.

Rasputin 12-06-2012 07:15 PM

They are going have Marcus Allen, A Football Life too. Not sure when it is on.

I loved it when Marcus Allen scored his 100th TD against the raiders and stuck it to Al Davis.

A football life lost all respect for me when they decided to put Tim Tebow on it, **** the NFL network. I'd rather watch top 10 or america's game over that..

Marcus Allen next.

That should be interesting.

Demonpenz 12-06-2012 11:12 PM

sanders would have made me batty if he played for my team with his 10 yard losses, but as it was he was appointment TV everytime he was playing.

okcchief 12-06-2012 11:19 PM

Barry was one of the most entertaining players to watch in the history of sports.

As far as not winning the big one and leaving early he played in ****ing Detroit

This.

Barry was absolutely special.

KCWolfman 12-07-2012 01:09 AM

My favorite player of all time.

Sfeihc 12-07-2012 06:42 AM

Barry juked Rod Woodson out of his ACL in Pittsburgh. #75 in the gif is Tony Casillas he was a pretty good D-lineman in his day for the ATL and 'Boys. Barry made the best defenders of his day look like the Three Stooges trying to tackle him.

During the episode Barry addressed this concern.
Basically said, that even if he had nowhere to run he wouldn't just go down. Any yard he lost wasn't for lack of trying.

I don't understand people's complaint about the negative yards. Barry would get the hand off and have like 5 defenders in his face instantly.

Why so angry? Who cares? He's a big story. And, he's a big story because so many people who love him and so many people who hate him. So, your hate for Tebow is what makes Tebow what he is. I really don't know why people care about Tebow so much one way or the other.

Kylo Ren 12-07-2012 09:11 AM

What are your thoughts about Barry's dad? Barry kept saying how his dad was a positive influence on him. But, his dad seemed like a jackass to me. I was conflicted watching that show.

Also, I liked how Barry would hand the ball to the ref after a TD. So did Marcus Allen. I wish more players would do that today.

Barry was one of the best or the best ever. He was a class act. But, after watching that show, it's clear that Barry is an odd guy. He's hard to figure out. He marches to the beat of his own drummer.

Molitoth 12-07-2012 09:14 AM

I never realized that Bobby Ross implemented the I formation with a fullback in 1997.
This limited Barry to like 77 yards rushing over 2 games which was the worst 2 game stretch in his career. Barry's father told Bobby to stretch the field with the WR's and let Barry run in space.... come to find out this happens and Barry rushes for over 2k yards in the remaining 14 games.

HemiEd 12-07-2012 09:22 AM

One of the best athletes to ever come out of Wichita. He went to HS with our eldest and was a pretty big deal at North High. :D

Rain Man 12-08-2012 10:12 PM

I finally got to see this. It's a good show and he's certainly the best running back to ever play the game. The highlights alone are worth the watch. However, he's not an overly compelling subject of a one-hour show. I don't think I learned anything that I didn't already know.

And yeah, his father was kind of a jerk. Maybe he kept Barry humble, but he didn't seem like someone you'd want to hang out with.

I was struck by just how totally unaffected he was/is by his own fame. I think he is really just a completely down-to-earth dude which makes him seem really odd considering that he's probably the best that ever played the position. No ego, zero, which just doesn't seem right.

And the Marcus Allen Football Life show was just amazing.. I forgot just how damn good Marcus was until I watched that show. Money inside the 5, everyone knew what was coming and they just couldn't stop it.
