Nassau - Any Suggestions

In less than a week my wife and I and another couple will be at Sandals in The Bahamas. I'd prefer to stay in the resort the whole time but the other three want us to go experience a little bit of the city. Looking for recommendations from those who've been there. I prefer places where we're unlikely to get robbed, raped, or killed.

Stay at the resort or go to Atlantis if you want to see something else for a day. Avoid town, it's a shithole.

Simply Red 02-19-2019 10:38 PM

yeah you very well may die, bud.

Well, shit. I just wanted to see one Chiefs Superbowl victory first.

I have some cool music festival tickets I could sell you. It’s on a privately owned island. Gonna be epic!

Ha ha

There’s a reason they advise you not to leave the resort in places like that.

Boat tour to the Exumas.

I was on the other side of the island - but when I stayed there in 08 three boys had disappeared who worked at Winn Dixie - turns out their kidneys were black marketed. Stay in Sandals.

Molitoth 02-19-2019 11:34 PM

My brother just ran into Travis Kelce at Atlantis last weekend.

There are tours you can take. I can't remember which fort we went to, but it was pretty cool. Don't let anyone braid your hair.

CoMoChief 02-20-2019 01:38 AM

They have 2 main beaches...one at the Atlantis hotel and then one down the street from the resort.

They're both nice.

But man....I've never seen so much crazy driving down there...jesus christ, strap in LMAO

When we do Sandals in Jamaica they usually have “Island Routes” tours. They have everything from a shopping excursion, to going to falls, museums, distilleries etc. seems to be the safest way to get out and about without getting hassled too much and they pick you up and drop you off at the resort.

https://www.islandroutes.com/caribbe...mas/19/nassau/

Edit: when out don’t pick up anything you don’t intend to buy, don’t take an item they hand to you as they’ll expect you to buy it once you have it in your hand.

Go to the "Fish Fry".

MahiMike 02-20-2019 06:33 AM

Why no hair braiding? I think one of the girls mentioned something about doing that.

RedRaider56 02-20-2019 08:34 AM

We were there years ago and went on a snorkeling excursion to one of the other nearby islands. Had a great time.

scho63 02-20-2019 08:47 AM

Golf on Paradise Island.
Snorkel.
Eat conch fritters.
Go to Atlantis for experience and a little gambling.
Lay on beach.
Drink pina coladas and rum
Smoke a Cuban cigar.
Watch your valuables.
Not much else to do.

58-4ever 02-20-2019 08:50 AM

Here's my suggestion: ask before you're only a week out... I kid, I kid.

Is this a real thing??

wutamess 02-20-2019 08:52 AM

If you're thrifty, don't shop at the resort. There's usually a cheaper straw market behind the resort or so. usually about half off everything the resort straw market.

wutamess 02-20-2019 08:54 AM

Get some conch salad while there. Find where they can make it in front of you. Looks gross but Oh so good!

O.city 02-20-2019 08:55 AM

The Baha Mar resort is pretty cool.

Ha ha. We were originally going to stay at the resort the entire time. Now they want to leave the resort and experience some of the culture so I'm hoping to guide us in the best possible direction.

IA_Chiefs_fan 02-20-2019 09:38 AM

Lots of good stuff here, guys. Thanks

Frazod 02-20-2019 09:43 AM

Paradise Island had the prettiest white sand beaches I've ever seen. I also almost drowned while swimming there because a wave picked me up and slammed me into the bottom - hard. So be careful.

Of course, that was over 30 years ago, so beyond that, I've got nothing. Have fun!

raybec 4 02-20-2019 09:45 AM

While you're there call Mr Walker and see if you can get Ordell Roby's money back

Love me some Jackie Brown!

cookster50 02-20-2019 01:15 PM

Went to the pirate museum which was ok. Other than that not much in the way of culture there.
