Looks like he could shave and play Steve Jobs after this one wraps.
|
Definitely looking forward to this. In fact, I'm looking forward to a lot of movies in 2012.
|
I've always thought DDL has to be a bit crazy to take method acting to the extreme that he does. I can't even imagine how awful he must have been around during the filming of Gangs of New York, not to mention There Will Be Blood.
You can't doubt that he gives great performances, though, and I'm sure Lincoln will be much in the same vein. |
Really looking forward to this.
What kind of accent did Lincoln have? |
I'VE ABANDONED MY SLAVES! I'VE ABANDONED MY SLAVES! I'VE ABANDONED MY WORKERS!
Freedom! Freedom, Eli, you boy. Freed slaves. I'm so sorry. Here, if you have a slave, and I have a slave, and I have a whip. There it is, that's a whip, you see? You watching? And my whip reaches acroooooossss the plantation, and starts to whip you instead of your slave...I...free...your...slave! I free him up! *gets shot at the theater* I'M FINISHED! |
Can't think of anybody better to play the part. Definitely looking forward to this.
|
He's the best in the biz.

Din't Lincoln say that if he could win the war without freeing the slaves, he would? Will that be left out of the movie?

I never thought I'd ever see an actor who looked more like Abe Lincoln than Lance Henriksen does. Wow.

Now, now. Let's give him the benefit of the doubt, here. After all, that wristwatch looks totally historically accurate to the Civil War era.

He needs to turn around right about now.
|
I read Team of Rivals and I really, REALLY can't imagine how the hell they turn that into a book. More like an HBO miniseries to do it any kind of justice. I really don't see how they pull that off.
But with Spielberg and Daniel Day Lewis, I'll gladly cross my fingers and hope it turns out well. |
Whens this coming out?
|
His next project will be the film version of the life story of American cyclist Lance Armstrong. It's going to be called, "My Left Nut".

When do they start filming the vampire parts?

The movie replaced all that with CGI 'splosions and ridiculous action sequences. It butchered a neat story and really, really sucked. |
So wait, What? DDL was Abe in the Vampire flick that I did NOT see and now he's in another one? I cornfused.

Probably helps if you know nothing about history and aren't terribly bright, too. |

Where were the vampires?

Looks good, but i didnt like the sound of Lewis voice for some reason? It didnt sound distinguished enough.
Also, the trailer is waaaay overdone. Its basically screamin out "Look at me, look at me....Oscar Bait!!!" |
They should've put some music in that trailer.
|

The trailer was bad, though. Rapidly fading in/out over and over again, even for the unnecessary credits. Was very distracting. |

I agree about Lincoln as well. I didn't mind his voice. It wasn't dignified as mentioned in the first scene they show him speaking, but that seemed to be a scene that maybe it wasn't called for. |
Shit trailer.
Day-Lewis sounds pretty natural in that Illinois accent, though. |

Not seeing this movie makes you a commie.

EDIT: I must add, if DDL offers up even a HINT of the Speilberg stare I will lose my SHIT!! |
Man, this looks disappointing. I'll probably still see it for the cast. But I'll wait for Netflix.

After reading that some time ago, I can't help but think of a competent Barney Fife (same quality of high voice), which seems rather common in that part of the country. |
I'm looking forward to this, even if it's hard to imagine a treatment that would be really satisfying.

I thought the trailer they played after the debate was 10 times better than the one posted here.

I hope Tommy Lee Jones doesn't ruin it. |
Anyone seen this yet?
I'm deciding between seeing this or Argo tonight. |
Having lived in springfield, ill and spent many afternoons at Lincolns New Salem near petersburg illinois and currently living very near a town where Lincoln famously debated Douglas, the Lincoln museum twice... i've basically been numbed to the entire idea of the man, it gets old living around it.
But, this movie is going to be great and i hope it makes me a little more proud to have seen many of his homes, offices, walked in his footsteps etc. Lewis is going to kill it. |

Both are great, though. |

Daniel Day-Lewis is great, of course, as he always is. He's definitely winning an Oscar. He portrays Lincoln in his last months as weary, slow-moving, almost telegraphing his impending death... and yet, with his occasional anecdotal speeches, displays the persuasive and subversive charm Lincoln had. (And with a few well-timed outburts, displays his passion and power.) |
I am very much looking forward to seeing this film when it makes its way to our discount theater.
I think a Washington pic should be in the making. |
It's not coming to my goddamned piece of shit theater. Mother**** the dumb****ers out here that will keep "Here comes the boom" in the theaters for a ****ing month but won't get the Lincoln film.
