Get ready for Wednesday (Christmas Day) football

The NFL will have almost every day of the week covered next season…

The NFL is planning on playing TWO games on Christmas, a Wednesday, this year, per sources. The plan is for the four teams playing on Wednesday to also be part of a doubleheader the previous Saturday, so they get TNF-like run up to the game.

Tough haul for those teams, though.
— Albert Breer (@AlbertBreer) March 26, 2024

Just want to say once more that I hate this.

Womble 03-26-2024 11:03 AM

That Raiders game ruined my Christmas day. Don't want that again.

Yeah, the NFL will do anything to maximize revenues. The teams selected will have back to back short weeks since they’ll play on the Saturday before Christmas.

NFL=$$$$$

displacedinMN 03-26-2024 11:37 AM

Not that it matters to us, but the NFL just announced that the Eagles home opener will be streaming exclusive only ( I think Amazon ). You can thank the Peacock experiment for what’s coming……

God damned money grab.

Yeah, that could be a real burden for the dozen people in the US that don't have Amazon Prime.

LoneWolf 03-26-2024 11:54 AM

I doubt they have the Chiefs on Christmas Day this year since they played on Christmas Day last season.

loochy 03-26-2024 12:09 PM

I will say that I enjoy sitting and watching football on thanksgiving and christmas, no matter the team

Holladay 03-26-2024 02:39 PM

Good excuse to tune out the in-laws

They want the Chiefs on most of the prime time games so it's very possible.

Did we though?

Did we really?...

I can say with 100% certainty that if this was the 1970's-1990's Chiefs pre Marty, I wouldn't be too focused on watching NFL games.

Just really squeezing this shit to death.

Why don't they just go to 162 games like baseball and destroy the NFL already.

I am all for expanding your market and protecting your players but Jesus Christ they just can't stop tinkering.

scho63 03-26-2024 02:48 PM

Some of my best friends growing up have really stopped watching. None are Chiefs fans of course........

JFC talk about squeezing blood out of a turnip. White knights in 3...2...1

It would take the Chiefs out of back to back weeks of being available to play in the traditional prime time/national TV windows since the Christmas Day teams will also play the previous Saturday.

That might be the deciding factor to keep the Chiefs out of this.

Honestly, I love the idea of Football on Christmas.

KCrockaholic 03-26-2024 03:16 PM

I have zero problem with Christmas football. I’d rather be watching games anyways since I don’t have kids, just the girlfriend and her family. But I do think it’s a bit tacky by the league to act so concerned about player health when these teams would be playing 3 games in 11 days. The game preparation during that stretch is going to be dogshit.

If they can't get sued for it, then they aren't concerned.

FloridaMan88 03-26-2024 03:23 PM

That last 7-10 days of December is going to be stacked with football… expanded college football playoffs, NFL games almost every day.

That doesn’t suck.

They are not tinkering. It’s a very well thought out plan to go international.

big nasty kcnut 05-10-2024 03:44 PM

I think the chiefs need to boycott Christmas games. Only bad things happen.

ThrobProng 05-10-2024 03:46 PM

The Bills have already provided a template for avoiding inconvenient games.
