Man. That's got to be crushing. That poor guy takes this place (and his status here) pretty seriously, so I'd imagine that getting banned is especially painful for him.

Funny story. I got a PM last night from a member who I won't name asking me to ban Skip. They thought I was a mod.

Actually, IIRC, Frank specifically said in the thread that he didn't care if Skip was banned or not. He just wanted the threats to stop.

Skip denigrated the work of teachers in Jaz's "What Do Teachers Make?" thread. TheBadGuy responded. Insults were volleyed. Skip sent multiple neg reps, and the coup de grace, a PM insinuating that he was going to find out where TBG worked, forward the thread to the principal, and get him fired.

I'm actually glad it wasn't a perma ban. Skip's been around too long for that. I will say though that if Frank comes back and anything actually does go down in his personal life it should become a perma ban in a heartbeat. Completely unacceptable to even threaten it, but to do it is just sick.

I did not ask for him to be banned.

I asked for the thread to be removed because he threatened that he was sending it to my building principal.

Skip was too much of a coward that he did his talking via PMs and in rep messages.

The fact that he did contact Mr. Kotter's school shows me what type of person he is.

I like skip but that is not cool.

And to avoid this in the future, I've put Skip on ignore. I don't need the drama and the threats that my family's life would be affected because he got upset that I insulted him in the thread (ironic considering he did all his insulting via PMs and neg reps that no one could see).

I didn't really say anything that was off the wall. I used some language that might be frowned upon. But I wasn't taking the chance. I'm a new teacher at this school and do not need that over my head.

Crazy. Didn't think Skip was of that ilk (and I say that not having read any of that particular thread).

I even asked him after the first PM he said to keep it between me and him and I would ignore him. He ignored that message and went on to send me another threatening one that said to ask Mr. Kotter if he would really contact a school.

For the record, this is fact.

There was nothing that was overtly offensive.

A few colorful insults? Sure.

But I would imagine that most administrators, if they saw TBG sticking up for what teachers do, would be proud of the fact that he takes so much pride in his job and wants to work as hard as he does.

Nevertheless, insinuating you are going to go after someone's livelihood...aside from death threats, that's about as bad as it gets, IMO.

I think the mods should seriously consider removing his ability to send PMs. The crap this rotten old bastard sends people in PMs and rep comments is absolutely ridiculous.

BTW, there is a feature under options which allows you to only receive PMs from people on your contacts list. It's a wonderful feature.

It's sort of sad, really. It's obvious that he takes the Planet very seriously (I won't speculate on the quality of his real life that causes this). As such, when he's insulted on here, it's very real and hurtful to him. He also takes his "popularity" and "status" on here seriously (see his old rants about 100 post thread starts).

Anyway, maybe a break will give him a little perspective on the Planet.

For those that didn't read the thread....Skip went off about teachers being lazy, working 180 days a year, yadda yadda yadda in a thread last year. I got pissed in that one, but left it alone after a while.

Skip then did the same thing the other night, and I responded back and forth with him. He said that teachers didn't know real work, and then I responded with a slam against cable installers. Skip sent me 3 neg rep messages during this period. This continued in the thread and I got heated and used some language (surprise, surprise).

Heh, apparently. Skip, in my view, was that guy who crowned himself King of ChiefsPlanet, and liked to push around new people and such. Guess I never paid close enough attention to him to see that he would get serious with the shit that's spoken on here. Serious enough to threaten someone's living, that is.

I agree they likely wouldn't have liked that. However, I was just ripping on Skip in that. My dad is a mechanic so I don't frown on manual labor jobs at all. When he repeatedly tried to downplay my job, I lashed out.

I have a great deal of respect for those types of jobs.

I respect teachers. Imagine babysitting a classroom full of kids for so many hours each day, plus trying to get them to learn something. Plus, they do so much work at home such as grading papers, reading reports, etc. During the summer, some teach summer school, and others continue their own education.

Unless you're a KU fan, or a skinny chick with boobs that flirts with him, then he basically hates everyone.

I had no idea people could get banned for threats like that. I've had several people say via pm or insinuate they were going to find my church and show them who I am, etc. Someone even said they were going to call to tell them that I'm bisexual. It's in the past now and I don't care, but it's good to know anyways.
