Eric Fisher injured Friday [but is ACTIVE for Oakland]

Eric Fisher T, Kansas City Chiefs
Coach Andy Reid told reporters Friday that Chiefs LT Eric Fisher suffered a groin injury during practice Friday.

Fisher is expected to be listed on the teams' official injury report later this afternoon. He allowed just two pressures on 41 snaps in pass protection in Week 1 and finished 2018 as PFF's No. 26 overall offensive tackle among 62 qualified players. Potentially being without your LT is never ideal, but the Chiefs are still set up brilliantly this week against the Raiders' anemic secondary.

Welp. Guess we'll get to see who can pass for a backup tackle.

It's either him or Allen I think.

MAHOMO 4 LIFE! 09-13-2019 12:28 PM

I hope Martinas Rankin tho

chiefforlife 09-13-2019 12:29 PM

Fish hurt and Mahomes gimpy is not good.

ChiefBlueCFC 09-13-2019 12:29 PM

I think Erving is the backup tackle/guard but they traded for that tackle from Houston a few weeks ago so maybe that guy?

'Hamas' Jenkins 09-13-2019 12:30 PM

O noz. Who is gonna block Khalil Mack!

ToxSocks 09-13-2019 12:33 PM

We'll be fine.

smithandrew051 09-13-2019 12:33 PM

No need to freak out yet. Reid didn’t say hardly anything about it at the press conference. We don’t know the severity yet.

wheeler08 09-13-2019 12:34 PM

Sweet Jesus Erving is AIDS at LT. I hope they saw that in preseason

pugsnotdrugs19 09-13-2019 12:35 PM

Just please don’t be a long term thing

jjchieffan 09-13-2019 12:36 PM

I think that I would prefer to put Erving or Allen in at Guard and kick Wiley out to left tackle. But, it'll probably be Erving at left tackle. That's scary.

pugsnotdrugs19 09-13-2019 12:37 PM

Gotta try to beat Oakland without him. We’ll need him next week much more.

MAHOMO 4 LIFE! 09-13-2019 12:40 PM

I love how everyone now thinks Fisher out is gonna hurt us. A couple years ago I remember everyone bitching that he was on our roster let alone starting.

rabblerouser 09-13-2019 12:40 PM

Allen or the guy from Houston, please. Erving should strictly play inside.

srvy 09-13-2019 12:41 PM

How does he injure his groin in friday walkthroughs? Erving and Wylie is gonna be a dumpster fire on that left side.

Well it is gonna hurt.

Even if he’s just a solid to good tackle, that’s a lot better than your standard swing tackle.

Mecca 09-13-2019 12:42 PM

If he doesn't go then Schwartz will take the LT spot with RT being filled in by whoever likely getting a ton of blocking help.

Wylie and Reiter were actually the strong part of the line last week. LDT sucked ass

Fisher will never live up to being the #1 draft pick, and that's why people bitched about him. But he's an above average LT in the league. The problem is that we don't have anyone else that is anywhere close to average.

Yeah I was hoping if Wylie continued sucking bad again Andy would replace Erving in the LG against Oakland in game. Wylie needs to step up big time and I don't think Allem is in game shape good enough just yet hope I am wrong.

chiefforlife 09-13-2019 12:45 PM

The Jags back up Tackles fared quite well against us, lets hope ours can hold up as well.

Wylie was actually the strong part of the O line last week. I’d look at replacing LDT

What Wylie was horibad

Hammock Parties 09-13-2019 12:50 PM

We'll be fine.

Hammock Parties 09-13-2019 12:51 PM

I am not in favor of giving this guy another contract. As he gets older this is only going to get worse. He's always been nicked up.

Would seriously look at drafting tackles starting next offseason.

The best thing about him is he has a reasonable contract.

gblowfish 09-13-2019 12:56 PM

Maybe we can do the same thing Stram did years ago and just do nothing but run the ball all day long. This is our last game at the Oakland Black Toilet Bowl. I have a feeling its gonna be one of those battles. I don't think for a minute this is going to be an easy game.

We'll, we haven't exactly invested in the position. When was the last time that the Chiefs drafted a tackle? I hadn't thought about it until I started the shadow Chiefs thread and saw no tackles. I believe that it was Rainman that pointed out that we haven't been drafting tackles. That needs to change. Tackle is too important to be ignored year after year like that. Especially when they are protecting a generational talent like Mahomes.

He missed 1 start in 4 years and it was Pat’s first start in Denver when everyone was sitting

Is it bad im hoping for the complete unknown in Rankin over the known Erving?

He has still been nicked up from time to time - he will get hurt during games and come back in, etc.

It's the NFL!! Player's get nicked up all the time. He's always available. He's above average. I have no problem drafting a tackle, in the later rounds, but to say that we neyto be looking for his replacement because he gets nicked up from time to time is just dumb.

It is logical to assume players will become more injury prone as they age.

I doubt Fisher is in the NFL much longer past 30. This is not Bruce Matthews type durability we are dealing with here.

Yeah...I'd go with Allen at LT and Erving at LG - Rankin hasn't been here long enough to get all the protection audibles down. One mistake could be disastrous.

lcarus 09-13-2019 01:40 PM

Eric Fisher has kind of lived up to being the #1 draft pick based on that class. Look at everyone else taken in the top 10 that year. We haven't had to worry about LT for 6 years now and we haven't had to break the bank for him either. He's not Willie Roaf but he's a solid starting LT. And he's rarely been hurt.

Wylie was an AIDS-filled dumpster fire doused in Ebolantifreeze.

This.

It kind of sucked at the time because there was no one else worthy of the #1 overall pick in 2013.

Fisher hasn't missed a game since his rookie year. He's missed 2 games his entire career.

It's a good thing that OT depth isn't an issue for the Chiefs. Eric Fisher sucks according to many people here this is no big deal at all. Anyone can replace shitty Eric Fisher without losing anything.

That’s exactly what I mean. It was appropriate at the time because it was silly. It’s appropriate now, in hindsight, because those Camaroheads turned out to be somewhat justified.

#Chiefs list LT Eric Fisher as questionable vs Raiders after leaving practice with a groin injury Friday. We did see him in the locker room after practice, looked in good spirits smiling and laughing with his offensive linemates.

Per Matt Derrick

I think so too. Friday is a walkthrough practice. I can't a major groin injury coming from walkthrough.

Any chance that he got an unwanted boner at practice, so he faked an injury to avoid the embarrassment?
