Saw that too. At least he's working

Titty Meat 04-11-2024 09:28 AM

Hopefully he doesn't drag race down there

ThrobProng 04-11-2024 09:28 AM

He should've been Rice's fall guy.

O.city 04-11-2024 09:31 AM

He's on a cheap rookie deal with guaranteed money. I don't know why anyone thought they would actually cut him?

Grey shorts guy kind of looks like Rashee.

HemiEd 04-11-2024 09:38 AM

Does he drive a Lambo or Corvette?

BigRedChief 04-11-2024 09:41 AM

Yep, he's not getting cut. If he can catch the damn ball, he'd help the team.

Dunerdr 04-11-2024 09:45 AM

Man if he would even just return to 2022 form he'd be a weapon.

chiefzilla1501 04-11-2024 09:49 AM

I dunno man. It's one thing to struggle but he flat out gave zero shits and then threw everyone else under the bus for it. Why would you want to keep that around? I guess you can relegate him as a gadget or return guy but all hes gonna do is bitch about his role.

Pretty sure that's what they're counting on. They've realized he can't carry the weight of being a key contributor, but he can make an impact in a limited role as we've seen. Just get him back to that.

We only have so much money to go around, some of these guys from last year are simply going to have to step up and play better.

Maybe he just doesn't have the mentals to be "the guy". Maybe when he's good he's just got to be playing care free.

Exactly, when he came here in 2022 he was flying by the seat of his pants. Don't expect him to be an X or Y, just get the ball in his hands a few times a game.

jerryaldini 04-11-2024 10:13 AM

Good sign. If he's motivated still wouldn't rule him out as a contributor. I'm sure he sees the opportunity with the Rice situation.

ToxSocks 04-11-2024 10:14 AM

I still have hope for him and am rooting for him next season, so....glad to see him putting in work.

ThrobProng 04-11-2024 10:16 AM

Maybe with hard work and determination, he will only cause one loss next season, instead of two like last season.

He's going to get opportunities whether Rice plays every game or no games. Toney is talented and still on a 1st round rookie contract.

Couch-Potato 04-11-2024 10:21 AM

Honestly, I'm rooting for a redemption arch from Toney now.

Kids got athletic talent, shows sparks of brilliance, but he's just immature. Hell, so was I at that age. Still am! He was thrust into a situation where he was being touted as the new #1 WR for the best team in football after an abysmal start to his pro career and clearly wasn't ready. I think Andy made that comment to give him confidence, but ultimately made him self conscious.

PFF only has him marked down as responsible for 4 drops all last season, but I know he had 4 in the DET game and received PFF's worst single game WR score since 2018, so there were definitely more. His season grade was a 62%, which isn't all that bad considering the NFL fanship's current impression of him. Hollywood Brown, our new #1 WR, only had a 67% grade last season himeself. Anyways, I'd be surprised if his drop % was above 10%. We've seen plenty of college guys with near the same drop %, notably Troy Franklin this year, that are still considered highly desirable and picked in the 1st or 2nd round of the draft.

There's a popular NFL parody instagram that never gives this guy a break. Literally, near daily content trolling him, which is actually pretty funny but a bit overdone at this point.

They obviously think he's salvageable. Punt returner, gadget guy? Who knows? But, their actions say they are going to give him another chance.

scho63 04-11-2024 10:31 AM

I mean fine by me if we're just looking to stash him as a boom/bust guy. But he's gotta do a looootttt to earn back trust. He's fine now when all is good but he's been another level of bad at dealing with the slightest hint of adversity. We're not talking about a guy making some mistakes. His attitude during those mistakes was another level of awful

Pasta Little Brioni 04-11-2024 11:03 AM

Good for him I guess. Sad we are celebrating guys that make millions putting in work in the offseason though...

chiefzilla1501 04-11-2024 12:05 PM

Just to be clear... The reason people are skeptical is that people acted like he was a good guy in a bad situation in New York because he was on good behavior for a few months. Only to repeat the same behavior that got him traded out of NY in the first place. Real cardinal sins like accusing the team of lying.

So yeah, put the work in young man. Give it a shot. But the leash needs to be very short. As dynamic as he can be it means nothing if you can't trust him on the field. And that's considering we're already doing him a huge solid even though we can never rely on him to stay on the field. We also gave mecole that second shot and although he made a key super bowl winning grab and it was only after he did his damnedest to fart away two of our playoff games.

Dunerdr 04-11-2024 01:22 PM

Heres a question. What would be a Toney redemption season? 600 yards? More? Less?

kc rush 04-11-2024 01:49 PM

We have won two Superbowls since acquiring him, so maybe......

Something like that. 600-800 yds, 5-7 TDs; 35+’1st downs at a bare-ass minimum.

Time to put up or get on down the road. He’s either a football player or he’s a rapper pretending to be a football player.

That's what I kind of think. 600 yards without stupid asss mistakes and maybe some good KR/PR work.

Yep. The talent/physical ability is all there. That was so evident that Veach was prepared to trade up for this guy before NYG beat him to it.

It's literally just his immaturity that's the problem. He has to grow up and take his responsibilities to his teammates and his career seriously, every damned day. And it's "now or never" time, as he's entering his 5th year in the league.

4 years in the NFL, and he has yet to eclipse 1,000 yards/4 TDs in his entire career.

No shit! He could be the 2nd coming of Jerry Rice but if you spend all your time in the tub or riding a bike on the side lines you're of no value to the team. I hope some one has finally pounded that thought into his brain.

Yeah that's the issue. If his role is returner and gadget guy and let's be real... You can't trust him in a bigger role, it means you have to keep a backup returner and gadget guy on your roster. Because he doesn't go on IR, he takes up roster space when he gets hurt. And he doesn't always finish games.

Not to mention the bad effect of a "locker room cancer" on the team

dannybcaitlyn 04-12-2024 07:27 AM

I’m not getting my hopes up for this guy , maybe Reid sat him down in office and gave him a real talk about what he expects from him or his NFL career will be short lived. Also maybe the birth of his kid opens his eyes and he brings more maturity and accountability.

Maybe he is lazy but his biggest issue by far is health. Dude can't stay healthy, don't know if that is due to him being lazy or unlucky.

Also maybe all the pressure he received in NY and last year when he was talked about being the #1 guy affected him.. I don't know but the only pressure he should feel this season is making the team at this point.

Except for his injury issues, all of his other problems have a fundamental common denominator: lack of accountability. And he’s not the only person on the team who has had that problem.

I hope he figured it out now, and he man’s up.

But I’m not holding my breath either.
