Sometimes I forget

...that we have won 3 Super Bowls with Mahomes in the past few years.

I mean, holy ****ing shit, guys. Never thought we'd win one in my lifetime. And now this mother ****er has given us 3.

Dante84 04-10-2024 12:21 PM

Inspiration came from watching this video of Eli saying "Hey Mahomes, you have one more of these than me."

Mahomes is so good that he's got one of the Manning brothers bragging about a ****ing soccer team, because he was never close to Mahomes' level as a QB.

It’s insane, the last 6 years have been such a wild ride it’s been hard to even take it all in. I go watch highlights of the first Super Bowl win and it feels like decades ago.

I still remember watching Mahomes slice the Steelers to shreds early in his first year as a starter, and I really started to think we might have something special. That said, never in my wildest dreams did I expect Mahomes to literally transcend sports and become a cultural icon. Oh, did I mention our TE is probably the second biggest star in the league as well?

I mean, it’s just unreal.

Patrick cut the Gordian Knot. The Chiefs spent 5 decades disappointing us with both early playoff exits and truly pathetic teams. When Patrick joined the team we were in the middle of another string of early exits. Patrick stepped in and the NFL will never be the same.

ThrobProng 04-10-2024 01:06 PM

Two conference championship overtime losses away from 6 straight Super Bowls. Unfathomable.

4, 3 with Mahomes and he still has a 12-14 year window... Crazy good times.

I could make an argument that Kelce is more famous, or at least as famous, as Mahomes. Aside from the girlfriend he's got the brother and he even had his bachelor show at one point.

Mahomes is obviously the most famous in the football world, but for the typical person on the street, I'm not sure he's more widely known than Kelce.

Rain Man 04-10-2024 06:03 PM

Another thing that I thought about recently was the incident right after Mahomes was drafted. Remember that situation where he got robbed by those two guys? Our world would be entirely different if something tragic had happened in that.

I don't know whether to thank the criminals for not using weapons or go to their prison and beat the heck out of them for even presenting the possibility of harm to our man Patrick. I lean toward the second option.

comochiefsfan 04-10-2024 06:39 PM

It was pretty obvious he was special during his rookie preseason.

I mean he played like a create a player in Madden. The plays and throws he made were absolutely ****ing absurd.

We all know the Titans ones, but there was one against Cincy on third down where he was being chased backwards like 15 yards and chucked it off his back foot for a first down that I remember had me shitting my pants watching it live.

It was like he could do no wrong.

7 years later and he still really hasn’t.

Hamwallet 04-10-2024 06:50 PM

I posted “trade him now, his value will never be higher.”, after his first season. Good thing I am not a NFL GM. Lmao It’s been a crazy ride. I moved away from KC the season we drafted Mahomes, went to almost every home game the previous 7-8 seasons when I moved back to KC. I’ve been to 2 games on holiday visits in the past 6 years. I get so many people calling me a bandwagon fan when I wear my chiefs gear in Florida, it’s annoying.

FOUR.

We're winning FOUR in a row.

Let that sink in.

And if we do that final one will be in a year we have 6 starters that hit free agency. 2025 will be the difficult one. This year will be the layup...

Dunerdr 04-11-2024 05:55 AM

I used to say stuff like why do we find the Jamaal Charles of running backs and never the Jamaal Charles of quarter backs? And then we did. His first season is such a great re watch. Even in the losses like the Rams.

11-5 seasons with a loss in the Wild Card round was the "Golden Era" of Chiefs football.

At first it looked like a Shakespearean tragedy of football for Buffalo. They traded their potential ticket to a HoF QB in exchange for more picks and a starting corner. So they take a talented QB from a questionable college. And that looks like it works! They even get some regular season wins against the HoF QB!

But then the coordinator that seemed to get the maximum out of their QB gets hired elsewhere and then their QB starts to play like a Jackass. As in the TV show. "Hey I'm Josh Allen and this is Jackass," he says as he abandons the pocket on a scramble only to directly aim for contact with an outside linebacker for a gain of three yards.

BUT EVEN STILL it looked like that Buffalo had a good chance to slay the demon in their own castle... and then the kicker shanks a mid ranger hard right.

The fact there wasn't a massive spike in Erie County NY suicides says a lot about the apathy and/or mental fortitude of Bills fan.

Moved to florida in 2010. Me and 2 other planet members found another 6 Chief fans to watch the games together. We are 2-14 watching on a TV that's 20 yards away from us with no sound. That was the bottom. It really really sucked. Fast forwad to our 3rd SB championship since the move. I now get to watch games with as many as we can cram into a place. Love living in this golden era of Chiefs football.

Couple this with how wretched the Sabres are and you have to wonder if Buffalo is just fandom hell.

I actually kinda disagree. I mean, he's lucky he got here in time for sure, but he's also peaking EXTREMELY early. When he's in his 20's and has to experience typical NFL fandom, it's going to be a rude awakening.

I tell people about meeting the chiefs in houston and trying to get Todd blackledge autograph but he was too tired. You know who gave me a autograph bill Kenny and the man Len Dawson. Plus telling people I had to hear go cowboys in high school and tried in vain to get them to say go chiefs.

Kinda this. As Patton once said (or at least George C. Scott), all glory is fleeting. Eventually this will all come to an end, and we'll likely go back into a decades-long endless slog of mediocrity. I think of my uncle, who was in his early 30s when the Chiefs won their first Super Bowl and died of old age before they won their second. If only he could have held on for a couple more years.

It's going to really suck going from Mahomes and Reid and Super Bowls all the time to being what we used to be. And eventually it's coming. I just hope it's later rather than sooner.

DRU 04-12-2024 08:15 AM

Understandable, but at least we knew in advance that those Cassel teams were going to suck.

For me, the low point was 1995-98. One of the better NFL defenses ever assembled, completely going to waste because of the obsession with shitty 49er backup QBs, and terrible offensive coaching. Schottenheimer can eat my ass in hell.

The idea of forgotten plays is amazing to me.

A list that is longer than many other player’s highlights. PMII has a growing list of plays, which are simply amazing, and we don’t even recall them when taking about his actual highlight reel.

That’s a crazy thought

There's a play from a colts game where Mahomes just lasers it while scramblig to his right like 50 yards into Pringles hands. It's so ridiculous the camera cant even find the ball. That one blows me away every time.
