Roster Updates (Watts and LDT to IR, Zombo signed)
The Chiefs announced a couple of significant roster moves Tuesday afternoon, placing starting guard Laurent Duvernay-Tardif as well as reserve safety Armani Watts on injured reserve while signing veteran free agent outside linebacker Frank Zombo to the 53-man roster. The team also announced the movement of undrafted rookie linebacker Rob McCray to a designation of Practice Squad/Injured.
The move of Duvernay-Tardif to injured reserve doesn't come as a big surprise after he suffered a fractured fibula in Sunday's 30-14 win over the Jacksonville Jaguars, but placing Watts on injured reserve was unexpected and another unneeded blow to a safety position already decimated by injury. Watts, who was a fourth-round pick of the Chiefs in the 2018 NFL Draft, left Sunday's win over the Jaguars with a groin injury. Both players will be eligible to return off of injured reserve in eight weeks, although the Chiefs are only allowed by league rules to bring two players per season off injured reserve, and one of them could be safety Daniel Sorensen, who has been out since the preseason following knee surgery. https://247sports.com/nfl/kansas-cit...mbo-123110807/ |

I was thinking like 4-5 weeks for LDT. |
Just hope we get Tardiff back for the Playoffs
|
Man, that sucks. There's no way they're gonna lose LDT for the season, so that means there's no scenario where Sorensen and Watts are both on the team this year.

But yeah... He may be able to get back by the Ravens or Chargers game. 3-4 games to get back in the swing before the playoffs. |
TO THE SHIT!
|
Zombo was the olb we were looking for!
|
Does this mean they can use one of their pull off IR early cards on LDT?
|
I guess the doctors couldn't bluff Tard telling him to rub some dirt on it and he'll be fine.

WTF happened to Watts did he fall over his drooping vag while poking his eye out with his pinky?

****ing Zombo......

YES!! Love Zombo!

Oh wonderful, Zombo will add another dimension of shitty tackling and slow/unathletic linebacker play to Sutton's shitfest defense.
Damn it Veach. |
I wonder if they wait extra long now for Sorensen to be brought back.
Because if he’s ready say week 9, I don’t think you just bring him back on knowing that after LDT you will have used all of your IR to return designations. I think you have to save one up just in case someone more important gets hurt later. At least until there’s 8 weeks until the Super Bowl, where the IR would then be season ending without a doubt. |

Not a fan of Zombo coming back, I get he knows the system but all I can see is Mariota blocking him and making him look foolish

Why can't the Chiefs quit Zombo??? Absolutely terrible.

I wonder if they knew all along Berry would be out awhile, but didn't wanna IR him or PUP him because they knew they had to use the return designation on Sorenson and then that only would allow them to get back one more player. It would have handicapped them pretty bad. They probably also thought they'd be good at safety, that depth has went to shit pretty fast.

What do they do with the open spot? Just about has to be a safety, right?

The transition season continues. We are banged up to hell. Tough games coming up.

Frank Zombo is not ruggedly handsome. Frank Zombo is ruggedly bad at football. |
Watts was never healthy in college. Not once. This should come as no surprise.
**** YOU, ZOMBO Our GM is a lazy ****. |
it's amazing for the last 3 years that Zombo just somehow sucks our souls by getting on that field.
They can't seem to find any warm body to upgrade that position no matter how many offseasons they get. |
The fact that Parker and Zombo are on this team after years of suckage is a major fail by Veech.

Parker can tackle. I don't see much Veach could have done at this point besides getting Zombo. We need someone today, not 2 weeks from now.

Meanwhile Veach has given us Armani Watts and Jordan Lucas, who played very wel last weekend. Kind of a bad situation to be put in honestly. |
I hope we see more Lucas on the field.

Our secondary needed a lot of immediate help and we failed at addressing it. |

Watts got injured this badly? A lot of our dudes are fragile AF.

It's lame Zombo is back but that's typical because they assume if he has to play he can do it right away as opposed to having to learn something. |
I'm kinda drunk. Did I read that right? Zombo?
Well, at least some of the Zombo Adopt-a-Chief sigs become relevant again. But really, Zombo? There wasn't anyone else? I get that he understands the system better, but that didn't really seem to help him being effective before. They could've signed Jamaal Charles to play OLB and I would've been more excited with this development. |
I get that Zombo knows the system as well, but that doesn't make him good. He's horrible. So horrible that he should be nowhere near a football field.

Zombo? Really?
Damn, thought he was gone for good :/ |
The guy(Veach) literally stalked Mahomes for years to get him for the Chief's and now some of you enlightened ones with superior knowledge disparage his selection so profoundly. 'F'n hiarious, I'd probably laugh in your face so hard you'd jump back. We have a salary situation and there are limited viable choices.
|
Veach needs to make a move for some players. This season will go down the toilet if he doesn't.
|
Zombo will step in and play this Sunday.... no other street free agent could do that. There aren’t all pros sitting around as free agents this time of year. He is an unspectacular but convenient addition this time of year.
|
No big deal. This ain't the year we're going to push for the super bowl and win. There's too many holes on defense. Has been from the start of the year.
All Zombo is is a warm body for an empty spot. Next year, after the draft and free agency, that's when I'll be worried if Zombo is still here. Everybody seems to be getting all wound over this as if the Chiefs are all in this year and this year is it! This was never the case. We all knew the defense was not up to snuff this year. |
Quote:
This year was supposed to be a growth year because nobody expected Patrick Mahomes to instantly be the best QB in the league. Everything has changed. |

They can absolutely get to the SB imo. |
With zombo in for tardiff who takes watts spot on the roster
|
I am so angry we didn’t sign someone like Khalil Mack to fill in while Houston is out.

If Zombo sees meaningful playing time this defense is more ****ed than Mia Khalifa.

However, I am sad that LDT went IR, it's possible that his injury is/could be worst than expected. I thought they could have carried him for several weeks like Berry. |

Gotta be frustrating as hell for the good doctor. Weird thing to say... But gotta be frustrating that the first year he can really focus on football is the year he gets this. I bet he's looking at his free time right now trying to figure out what the hell to do with himself.
|
What happened to Watts? I didn't even know that he was nicked up.

I'm not as freaked out about Zombo. He's not a particularly good olb. But we've played lots of stretches with him and managed to play at least mediocre. I think people are really overestimating how much better some scrub off the street will do vs him. We've brought in a lot of scrubs and he's been better than them, for what it's worth.

Come on Veach, make a move for somebody. Zombo doesn't count. He is not making a move. He desperation.

Like I said before, if nothing has been done about the defense by the start of next year, then I will. |

He has 2 years left on a very reasonable contract. Cards just restructured his deal to give an extension to David Johnson. Would only cost the Chiefs 11/16 of his new base of $1,492,500 for 2018. Same base for next year. He's better than any active safety we have on the roster. And you just know he'd LOVE to come play for a winner. At 1-4, wouldn't the Cards like to get a draft pick for a guy that won't be playing when they finally get it together? Red, can you DM this to Brett? Thank you! |
Quote:
Seems like a recipe for disappointment. |
I'd like to know where you guys are going to get the magical cap dollars to pull all this off?
Magical cap dollars sound great. FAX |
