Went with Maverick, but mostly because he's the one that I watched the most. I can remember sitting around on Sunday evening eating tacos and watching Maverick in black and white. Great show. Plus, I'm a big James Garner fan.

Just one of those memories that sticks with you.

big nasty kcnut 10-22-2004 11:05 PM

You forgot the real cowboy Jerry Mouse uncle tex voiced by Tex Ritter.

ChiefsCountry 10-22-2004 11:37 PM

A true crime, also if you are going to throw in the big vally you should have gone with Linda Evans (man could she fill out those riding pants nicely, rates right up there with Emma Peel and her leather pants).

Tom Mix.

Dr. Johnny Fever 10-23-2004 12:50 PM

Kid Rock

Rain Man 10-23-2004 02:23 PM

I really enjoyed Billy Crystal in that dude ranch movie.

On the other hand, I also enjoyed the Cartwright clan, though I always wondered if Ben Cartwright had killed his wife as part of an affair with Hop Sing and to get a big insurance settlment. That seemed like an awfully big house and ranch for a single father.

OldTownChief 10-23-2004 02:26 PM

Was Zorro a cowboy?

If your going to have Maverick on the list you might as well include Bronco Billy

Why would someone in Mexico go around in a black outfit? That's just asking for a sunstroke. No good cowboy would do that.

ROFL ROFL ROFL

no regular cowboy would, but this was a "good guy" who just happened to dress in black?

i dunno, it's just one of those things that i never noticed as a kid, but it doesn't make much sense does it?

Rain Man 10-23-2004 02:52 PM

Y'know, Ben Cartwright should have married Barbara Stanwyck of "The Big Valley." He was a widower with three boys, and she was a widow with some kids of her own, even if they weren't all girls. They could have called it "The Bonanza Bunch."

I wonder what happened to Barbara Stanwyck's husband? It's just too convenient to not suspect foul play in these circumstances.

Calcountry 10-23-2004 02:53 PM

John Wayne.

I am shocked that you didn't include him in the poll.

Rain Man 10-23-2004 02:57 PM

John Wayne wasn't a cowboy. He was a marine.

Completely unbelievable. A transgression like that is almost neg-rep worthy.:shake:

Rain Man 10-23-2004 03:03 PM

In Hel'n's defense, was John Wayne a TV cowboy? Or was he for the most part a movie cowboy?

Roy Rogers, Gene Autry. This poll is flawed.

Well, maybe. But if he doesn't make it, I'll bet the shark usually goes for the horse first, so it's not that dangerous.
