You're welcome Wolverines fans.
The Hawkeyes just bailed you out. Have fun in Anaheim. Wonder where :IA: is going.

As much as I could care less about the Hawks, heckuva season. All those injuries and 9-2 season.

What the hell's a Hawkeye?
|
Is that a small around dark brown nut that you find outside?? Or is that a buckeye,,I forget what they are called.

not only did the Hawkeyes win a share of the Big Ten, but the Cyclones have clinched at least a share of the Big 12 North (that's how sad that division is)...I'm not sure what's in the water here in Iowa...but we'd better get some of it down to KC...and quick!

They're going to the Cap-One almost guaranteed. |
Iowa has a couple of players on defense who might just be able to help out around here.
Abdule Hodge at MLB, and Matt Roth at LDE. And their QB, Tate, might be a QBOTF candidate in a year or two. |

If I recall correctly, isn't the Sun Bowl an Big 10 vs Big 12 game? I couldn't quite remember if it was the 98 season where KSU was undefeated, only lost to the Aggies in OT, and even though they were in the top 5, they went to the Sun Bowl aganist Purdue. |
....and lost to Purdue? Did you remember that part?

I was practically not willing to say that to prevent any traumatic flashbacks for the KSU fans. :p |
Love those IOWA Hawkeyes

It's too bad that we had the slow start of the season. I believe that we played Michigan closer than the score indicates, and would like a second shot at them (Big Ten championship game please). The other loss was that ass-kicking that ASU handed us, and I'm still not sure what happened that game...I guess we really missed our D coordinator that week. I'm fairly sure we'll get a Jan 1 bowl in Florida, but who knows which one. As long as we don't play a team with an explosive pass offense, we should be able to win regardless of the opposition. |
Nobody knows what a Hawkeye is?

Hawkeye was also a character in James Fenimore Cooper's "The Last of the Mohicans". I'm not sure if he was the source of the nickname.
Iowa was nicknamed the "Hawkeye State" originally as a tribute to an Indian named Chief Black Hawk. |

Seriously, if you want to poke fun at mascots, there are much easier targets than IA. Cobbers (Concordia College, Moorhead) Duhawks (Loras College) Ephs (Williams College) Flying Fleet (Erskine College) Gaels (Iona College) Ichabods (Washburn University of Topeka) Jumbos (Tufts University) Lord Jeffs (Amherst College) Nanooks (University of Alaska Fairbanks) Oaks (Menlo College) Utes (University of Utah) Valiants (Manhattanville College) Wonder Boys (Arkansas Tech University) Yeomen (Oberlin College) Zips (University of Akron) |
Hey, don't forget the University of Kansas "Let's ride across the border and massacre a bunch of Missurians" ... ahem, I mean Jayhawks :)
Rock chalk! |

It's pretty much guaranteed that it will be the Cap One Bowl...
The opponent now really depends on the outcome of the SEC championship game...if Auburn wins, Iowa will likely play LSU. |
