I hate the Chiefs website...

Have they heard of "interactive"? They need to. Most major sports team websites are more interactive and post information that the fans WANT to read (like FA signings) instead of articles that most of us dont give a damn about.

Ugh.

Maybe we should all petition the Chiefs webmasters to make ChiefsPlanet the "Official Forum for Chiefs Fans" so that they would at least have some sort of respectability for their sites information.

htismaqe 03-03-2005 12:30 PM

It's all Carl Peterson's fault.

blsilks 03-03-2005 12:32 PM

No joke. I can make a better one using Front Page. In fact I can make a better on using MS Word or notepad.

No kidding.

I dont mind the layout... just the content. Blah Blah Blah is all you get.

And when they DO finally post something good, we have all already read it somewhere else about 2 hours earlier.

KCTitus 03-03-2005 12:35 PM

Who was it who emailed the webmaster to complain and got some sarcastic response...that was funny as hell.

HC_Chief 03-03-2005 12:36 PM

Yep, it does suck. Looks like a second-rate site for a second-rate cowtown team.

Beerme.

The webmaster is a regular reader and sometimes poster here. He will take constructive criticism seriously. He'll laugh at anything else.

My agent thought I was the last piece to make ChiefsPlanet a reputable BB.

Or, the Planet could be the last stop on my way to the BB bush leagues.

We won’t know for sure until the season starts.

Sorry, we don't have the cap room for you. Go try the Orangemange.

blsilks 03-03-2005 12:43 PM

It looks like he used dreamweaver or something to make it.

Gaz 03-03-2005 12:44 PM

THAT's gonna leave a mark...

Why would they post about something that hasn't happened? Last time I checked, it's 12:44pm central time, and they still haven't signed anyone.

blsilks 03-03-2005 12:44 PM

Im starting to get hooked on asp.net myself.

True but they could be keeping people in the loop at least. Look at the Cowboys site. They are talking quite a bit about whats happening.

Then go back and look at the "Latest Headlines" section of the Chiefs page.

BIG difference. I dont care about the Sri Lanka articles right now, dont care about the Dr Suess stuff... granted, yes they should do it but is that REALLY the LATEST coming out of KC? It is a football site by the way, in case they have forgotten.

blsilks 03-03-2005 12:48 PM

I would have just set the Chiefs up with a PHP Nuke site and charged them 70,000 for it.

I know I did.

I really do need to send an email, that was one of the better classic threads... ROFL

blsilks 03-03-2005 12:50 PM

for 80,000 I will set them up with Mambo.

jspchief 03-03-2005 12:52 PM

The Chiefs site is lacking in a lot of areas. It lacks quality content, has a poor layout, and it's just plain boring.

They could learn a lot from other team sites.

BigRedChief 03-03-2005 12:54 PM

The Chiefs site is really lame and run of the mill. A huge oppertunity to improve. But we don't know whats what behind the scenes? Maybe thats the best they could do with the money King Carl alloted for the website. Maybe the maintence and upkeep money isn't there for keeping the sites content updated. Maybe King Carl sees it as a pr tool of the Chiefs and not a Chief fans interactive site.

And yes I could do better and have done better in the past for a heck of a lot less than the figures in this thread.

htismaqe 03-03-2005 12:54 PM

FYI, the layout is a template approved by the NFL. The layouts of all official team sites are roughly the same.

Phobia 03-03-2005 12:54 PM

The Chiefs just completed a redesign of their website last offseason. They spent a shitload of money on it.

Lots of people responded that they thought it was much improved.

Are you guys pissed about the Chiefs website or are you pissed that the Chiefs haven't added any UFA's yet?

blsilks 03-03-2005 12:56 PM

I think the chiefs should contact these guys http://www.2advanced.com and them build the chiefs site.

It would be a shame if he wrote validating code.

And it Was much improved from the previous site. And the cosmetic and layout is not the complaint here. It is the lack of pertinent football information that is the complaint.

Not pissed that they havent signed yet. In fact, I think it is better that they didnt sign right away because thats like impulse buying and you always pay too much. but now, 2-3 days later, they are in a better shape to evaluate their pending purchase... or maybe they are sitting with their thumbs up their butts... we will never know because we get no information from them.

I agree. It's frustrating to not be able to find any news about the Chiefs and free agency anywhere.

The Rand and Gretz articles that have been appearing there over the last couple of weeks at least gives us something relating to the Chiefs/football to read.

In defense of the Chiefs BB, they did scoop the OFFICIAL release of Holiday before anyone else.

blsilks 03-03-2005 01:12 PM

The Planet is the REAL Chiefs site as far as im concerned. It has all of the real Chief fans as well as the up-to-date Chiefs information. It even has the up-to-date Chiefs BS. Thats still alot more then kcchiefs.com has to offer.

I can't remember that last time I actually typed www.kcchiefs.com in my browser...

Otter 03-03-2005 01:15 PM

I always thought the fact that the Chiefs PR person basiclly insults fans and hides behind a fake name was more pathetic than the website itself.

Close second though.
