NEW YORK - Paul McCartney is ready to rock the United States — again.

McCartney's "US" tour will open Sept. 16 in Miami. The 28-performance tour spans 11 weeks, ending with a Nov. 29 show in Los Angeles.

"We are looking forward to playing again in America," McCartney said in a statement Monday. "They know how to have a good time, and we're there to give it to them. It'll be fun to visit some new places, to see some old faces and to do things a bit differently this time. We're ready to rock."

McCartney's "Back in the U.S." tour swept through the country nearly four years ago. He performed at the Super Bowl in February.

The "US" tour, which is planned to coincide with a new McCartney recording, will include stops in Boston, New York, Chicago and Las Vegas. Des Moines, Iowa, and Omaha, Neb., will get their first-ever McCartney performances.

McCartney will perform Beatles hits as well as material from his solo career and songs by his 1970s band, Wings.

Top tier tickets are $180.

For that price, John Lennon better make a guest appearance on stage.

I don't know that he can sell a lot of 180 dollar tickets in Omaha.

Depends on the venue. I don't know what type of draw he'll get, so I'm not sure where he'll be. In Des Moines, if he's at the Civic Center, the ushers there make the gestapo look like candy-stripers. If he's anticipating a bigger crowd, it might be at the new event center.

dang...McCartney must be needing more cash or something.

I saw him in '89, was one of the best concerts I ever saw. I'll try to get tickets to the Sept. 20 show in Atlanta.

When he was in Ames a few years ago he was on this vegetarian kick, and wouldn't allow hot dogs to be sold at the concert, or that is at least what I heard anyway.

Hey Nz - they are about to announce Mellencamp's summer tour very soon also. Not sure if you would be interested in seeing him a second time in a year or not, but he will be touring with Dan Fogerty.

I think ya meant John Fogerty ;) and depending on the KC date I'd have some interest as I've never seen Fogerty and would have no problem seeing that Mellencamp show again.

Btw,if ya get any Omaha info on McCartney pass it along.

Thanks for the head's up,my Ticketmaster friend also called while I was on my St Louis trip and told me tickets go on sale this Monday at 10a.m.

If it works out we'll probably go to Omaha early that Sunday morning for a full day of football(the Chiefs play the Chargers at 3:15)and then on to the concert after that.

I would love to see this show. Not a chance in hell with my money situation but it would be cool. I need to check up on some bands and plan out a few other shows to go to.

Were probably just going to get the $50 seats,the Omaha venue is not that big.If you're interested let me know before Monday morning as we're going to go up early and catch the game at a sportsbar.The date is Oct 30th.
