I also think getting Surtain will entice Shields to keep going. With the additions on Defense you got ot be thinking you got a chance for a ring.

Still pissed off that they didn't do this last year.

During his early years in KC Carter was a dominate corner. One of the Madden games had a highlight of Carter playing catch up and leaping about 5 feet in the air to tip a ball away. He was a great player in his prime. Probably could've played himself into the HOF if had his head on straight.

Anyone remember which game it was, I think it was in 97, where the commentators were going on endlessly about how EVERY pass attempt was a coverage sack. They didn't get a receiver open all game with Carter and Hasty back there.

No doubt, Carter played well especially early on, but... he proved to be anything but consistent and began to be burnt more and more. By his final year with us, Hasty was a much better player...

Only if he used a slur towards the car.

I'm very excited about this, but let's not go overboard people. The Surtain deal could end up like the Champ Bailey deal for all we know. I'm excited, but my optimism is also somewhat guarded.

not me...gunther, baby!! i think we're gonna be solid. I'll even take a chance and say Wilkerson takes Hicks starting job.

besides, we're talking about the Invescos, who think they're better even when they lose.

We definitely are contenders for a playoff win this year I believe. IMO we still are one OLB away and a pretty much injury free season away from being Super Bowl contenders.

Funny line but I don't really get it. We could have been a contender last year had Carl done this during last offseason. I would think anyone would acknowledge that would have been a good thing.

I hope like hell you're correct. But I do agree that one of the final peices of the puzzle is for somebody to put Hicks on the bench.

There are two ifs - IF we can stay healthy, and IF someone at OLB will step up, then we could make some serious noise in the AFC.

That was my point. The past 4 years have smacked my enthus-o-meter around so much that I'm like a beaten puppy scared to take the tasty treat from a friendly hand. Could've used some of these quality personnel moves back when my fandom was a little less battered.

I totally agree with you. But Carl finally pulled his head out of his ass this year. I'm pretty happy about it.

We may have a shitty season again next year, but it won't be for lack of trying.
