Did you know...

...speeding tickets come with the envelopes to mail in the fine now?

$64.50 for 48 in a 30. Damn that truck that was tailgating me! :cuss:

Phobia 07-04-2005 12:29 AM

64.50 rates a thread?

Holy crap.

18 over is only $64.50?!?!? I really need to come speed in your neck of the woods. I haven't had a speeding ticket under $150 in a decade.

The last one I got before this was $140. But the nice officer only put me down going 10 over instead of 20. That was also a State Highway patrolman. This one was just Springfield PD.
This is just the first one I got that comes with the envelope. Isn't that just so thoughtful of them? lol

Pants 07-04-2005 12:35 AM

WTF? I got a $100 for driving 30 in a 30 (not a fucking typo). Did you cry when he pulled you over or something?

Nope, I've never been one to do that. It was a helluva lot cheaper than I thought it was gonna be. Another funny thing about it is that the ticket is $40 and the court cost is $24.50.

Do I pay the court cost since I'm not actually appearing in court? First time I'd really thought about it.

Hammock Parties 07-04-2005 12:40 AM

I got like a $75 ticket when I did 55 in a 40.

That's because you cried when he pulled you over.

Yeah you pay the court costs. Only the fine doubles if you want to ammend it though.

Are you saying I got off light? It was my first and only ticket.

No no no, he cried during giving him the blowjob. The sick cop had a fetish for crying...

Hammock Parties 07-04-2005 12:47 AM

That's kinda funny, considering I was pulled over in a deserted parking lot around midnight.

Mr. Flopnuts 07-04-2005 12:50 AM

No accidents, and no tickets ever. I'm 28...........and now that I've said it, my first of each shouldn't be far behind.

No that was on the road. He turned on his lights when I slowed down to go around the corner and then I turned into the parking lot.

Murphy's Law, my friend. See you in court! :p

RedDread 07-04-2005 01:02 AM

Cop let me off when I was doing 65 in a 35 when I was 16, cause from my understanding that's an automatic arrest.

Thanks to my radar detector I've gotten out of about 3 tickets in the last 2 months. Considering when I speed I don't f*** around

done 85 in a 55 (71 South) 75 in a 35 (E 47th St) and my finest achievement, 105 in a 45 on Blue River road.

We don't have any cops on CP do we? :hmmm:

I was thinking it's double the posted speed limit as being an automatic arrest. I am most likely wrong though.

No he flashed him his man boobs.

I got a ticket for 80 in a 65 one time it was $135

Scorp 07-04-2005 08:07 AM

Friday morning I got a speeding ticket. I was going 73 mph in a 60 mph speed zone. Damn ticket cost me $48.00 and court costs are $60.00. I haven't received a ticket in over 10 yrs.

Radar detector people. The Escort is the best one IMO. I paid $300 for mine in 1981. Still going strong and no speeding tickets. I think you could get one cheaper at a pawn shop or truck stop.

Um, that wasn't a speeding ticket, my friend. That was a prostitution bust.

Did you have one of those metric to English conversion problems like that Mars lander a while back? Those things will kill you.

The best way to avoid paying out the nose for a speed ticket is very simple.

DON'T SPEED!

The preceding was a PSA for those of you that leave the house at the very last minute.

Wrong-o.
That I can attest to.

Sparhawk 07-05-2005 03:49 PM

Anyone ever notice how some people can almost always get out of a ticket, while you always seem to have to pay?

I'm about half and half right now. I think I've gotten 4 and maybe been let go 3 or 4 times. Wow. I guess I must have a lead foot.

You know ... if you'de leave the house bra-less once in a while, you may find you'll get more warnings than tickets.

On my 21st b-day I was late getting to a party. Got nailed for 121 in a 65 in OP on 69S. I have no clue if he was telling me the truth or not because the speedo only went to 85, so all I knew was it was over that. So he gets my license, sees it's my 21st, and immediately gets this look. Asks me if I've been drinking, I tell him "no" (which was the truth), and he has me blow on him. Goes to his car, calls it in. I am dead convinced that I'm going to jail. Comes back and gives me a ticket for 15 over. I about passed out. Tells me it's because it's my bday and I hadn't been drinking. He didn't want to haul me in.

I think most of my other tickets have been for 14 over, all of which I earned.

As for doubling down: Yes it's real and for me it was a must. Just call up the prosecutor's office wherever you got the ticket and ask them if you can plead to a non-moving violation. In JoCo they'll almost always tell you to pay double the fine and you're good. Other places may ask what you mean, in that case offer to double the fine or make a charitable donation, etc. I've never had a ticket go on my record and I've been busted in 3 states now. KS, MO, and Iowa.
