What was your favorite cartoon as a kid?
I'm quite ashamed to admit that I religously viewed "Talespin."
http://www.answers.com/main/content/...x-Talespin.jpg I hear skip enjoyed silent cartoons. |

Spider Man and his Amazing Friends.
|
I remember watching Robotech right before school each morning.
Also remember both versions of Voltron. The Lions one and then the vehicles one. |

I liked Robotech to. There were 3 series I remeber the first one was pretty good, the second series sucked and the third series was the best they had motorcycles that became battlesuits or something. |
The original Scooby Doo, Speed Racer and Battle of the Planets were all favorites.
|
One was definitely Speed Racer. Although they weren't cartoons, how about some Johnny Socko and his Flying Robot and Ultraman?
http://members.aol.com/unclerit/JSrobot.jpg http://www.retrocrush.com/tvthemes/ultraman.jpg |
Transformers, Spiderman, and Hercules were three of my favorites.
|
I liked He-Man, GI Joe, Voltron, Inspector Gadget, Flintstones, Scooby Doo. Bugs Bunny and Friends when I was much younger. I also remember getting up at 5 in the morning and watching the cartoon express on USA. The Laugh-Olympics were the greatest.
Now I'm partial to Aqua Teen Hunger Force. |
ooh, yeah, forgot about transformers. Loved transformers and Thundercats too.
|
Damn. No love for the Road Runner? Wile E. Coyote is the greatest cartoon character ever IMO.

I wanted to BE Space Ghost. I clearly remember taping typing paper around my forearms and (mentally) shooting death rays at aliens lurking around my house. :shake: |

Wacky Racers. I really liked the ensemble cast and the fact that endings were unpredictable. You never knew who would win that week's race.
|
|
I remember some of the Saturday morning cartoons being, Transformers, He-man, the Smurfs, the Snorkles (basically underwater smurfs), Looney Tunes, and I found the Hair Bears on Cartoon Network the other day. I was a little older, but my nephew would watch X-Men on Saturday mornings when I was babysitting him for a while. There were more, but I've slept several times since then.
I've noticed that there aren't really Saturday morning cartoons as I remember them anymore. Once shows like Saved by the Bell and City Guys came on, cartoons became extinct. Now it's educational type shows that they borrow from the Discovery Channel. Poors kids get enough education at school during the week. Bring back cartoons!!!! |

At some point when I was a little kid, I realized that I knew about Mickey, but I had never seen him in a cartoon. To this day, I don't think I've ever seen him, other than introducing a skit on the old Walt Disney Show. He's kind of like the J.D. Salinger of cartoon characters. |
By the time Inspector Gadget got over, I didn't have time to walk to school on time, so I was late nearly every day.
I also really liked the stuff that was rarely on, Like HR PufnStuf or Land of the Lost. |

But I must say I grew up on Disney. |

Speaking of old Disney cartoons, I think one of my favorites would have to be the one where Goofy does the instructional video. I think it was different exercise equipment. Something like that. |
I used to run home from school in order to be in time to catch the beginnings of Speed Racer. I see it now and wonder about the 8 year old mind.

Looney Tunes (Bugs, Daffy, Sylvester, etc)
Rocky & Bullwinkle (Still crack me up) Johnny Quest (Is Hadji an insurgent now?) Popeye (Well Blow Me Down! WTF?) Yogi Bear (Is Boo Boo Illegitimate?) I know a lot of you like Disney, but I don't think Walt would like the meglo-mania greedy marketing Michael Eisner World Domination Disney Corporation. They've gotten waaaaay out of control. Also, Looney Tunes didn't sell out (aka "Space Jam") until AFTER Mel Blanc kicked. |
Looney Tunes
Merrie Melodies Ultraman Speed Racer Hanna Barbera (snagglepuss, Huckleberry Hound,Yogi bear, Penelope Pitstop, Jetsons. etc) MrMcGoo Dudley Doright Fat Albert ScoobyDoo Rocky and Bullwinkle Peanuts Specials |
I never missed Space Ghost. Well at least when I didn't have to go to F'ing catechism on Saturday morning.
|
gotta throw in the Flintstones & the Jetsons

I think if Walt were alive today, there wouldn't have been the lean years that Disney had before Eisner came along. Much as he is reviled, if it weren't for Michael Eisner, The Disney Corporation might have gone into the tank, especially with Roy running the company. While I think that Disney is more about the money now, than quality of entertainment, they still know how to put out good family fare. And face it, who would you rather have owning Disney....the present situation, Roy Disney, Rupert Murdoch or Ted Turner? They have at some level, maintained some of Walts' dream, but in cases where it means more money, they have modified it a little. mmaddog ******* |
No contest - Doug.

Let's so, there were so many. I remember scheduling life around cartoons when I was a kid.
Okay, when I was little (and I know I'm going to catch hell for this) : Care Bears My Little Pony Smurfs Jem and the Holograms Pound Puppies GI Joe Transformers Thundercats Danger Mouse Then as I got a little older: Ducktales Chip and Dale's Rescue Rangers Talespin X-Men The Tick The Adventures of Batman Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles There's probably 9,000 more, but I can't think of them now. The real sad part is, I can still remember most of those theme songs. |
Transformers and TNMT. Sometimes Voltron (the lions one) - but every episode was the same, heh.

TMNT, Doug, and Rocko's Modern Life ranked very high on my list. I also liked Darkwing Duck quite a lot, though I didn't watch it very often. Quote:

(God, I loved SGC2C and Cartoon Planet back in the mid-to-late '90s -- too bad music licensing issues keep Cartoon Planet from being aired on Adult Swim or even put on DVD.) |
