Clayton likes DJ
 

On ESPN last night.
He said DJ was the new D player in the NFL that caught his eye. Said he should make a big impact, esp is his rookie season. :thumb:
I bring this up 'cuz Clayton is one of the few media guys I actually trust.
No pressure, DJ!! Just do what you do!!

I like John Clayton... even though he's a mega wimp.

I don't really see how anyone actually knows how he is a wimp other then his physical appearance. It is pretty obvious that how he interacts with the other guy on ESPN, Salisbury, is just a gimmick. Steve Buscemi looks like a twig, but he is a former NY firefighter, and while other celebrities were fleeing NY after 9/11 he volunteered with his former unit and helped clear Ground Zero.

On the other hand, I really like Clayton too. He usually seems to have good takes that make sense when he explains them.

I'd say 95% are that way.

But this guy (and his face fer radio) is a pretty straight shooter. I've never disagreed w/ anything he's said.

Poor Laz...it's his worst time of the year.

I listen to Clayton more than Salsbury. At least Clayton is typically right on the money. Salsbury is always wrong with his predictions. Always. And when Clayton calls him out on it, he just belittles him.

I'd rather be a wimp and right all the time, than a bully and wrong all the time.

Salisbury is one of those guys that thinks being loud makes him good. I think he's a complete tool generally.

I love to see Clayton kick him in the nuts one day. I'd pay to see it.

Salisbury entertains me with his over the top exclamations, such as yesterday's classic (slightly paraphrased) "Brandon Stokley would be a number one wide receiver on most NFL teams."

The chopped steak guy (Salsbury) is just so dang annoying. I love how quick he plays the "I played and you didn't" card when Clayton calls him on his carp. I'll take Jaws any day over chopped steak guy.

I was watching a show a week or so ago, it might have been NFL Live, where Clayton and Salisbury were hosts for the whole thing. They were actually discussing things instead of their usual gimmick. It was pretty refreshing. Salisbury was a lot less annoying and it seemed more knowledgable, and the pair just seemed to have mroe chemistry then the usual little segments on Sportscenter where they just argue.

Right on. I like John Clayton. He does his homework, and is usually right for the most part. When he talks, I listen.

No, that's just Mortensen , and Hodge that talk out their ass before getting the full story.

DJ's speed and coverage ability give Gun the kind of matchup problems Saunders has with Gonzo on offense. He can take away any TE 1vs1 and, if he learns to use his hands well, could cover a lot of WRs. DJ's coverage ability will allow Gun to use more complicated and better disguised coverages. Same with blitz packages.

Fors sure, Clayton and Jaws are the only two people I actually believe. Especially Clayton, as Jaws can sometimes talk out of his ass as well.

If it was only Clayton, I might take it with a grain of salt. But it's everybody up there talking about him. I mean, shit, it's not like the local media are homers that treat the team and their draft picks with kid gloves. I've only been here for, what, 8 years now, so maybe that's not enough experience with the local sports guys, but I've never heard any draft pick talked about with the kind of...awe that they all have in their voices when they talk about DJ.

I can't wait to see it for myself.

I don't know if "televising" is the right word, but I have this weird magic box in my living room that shows moving images and barks out sound.

I must preface this comment with the fact that I have been excited about Clayton and King's endorsement.

When Clayton and King give anti Chief opinions King is a Rams/Donx lover and Clayton is Fraziers brother Niles...what does he know about football...did he ever play? It is good that the Chiefs faithful keep our Red and Gold glasses on and support them when they support us.

I am still amazed that he fell to #15 for us. I kind of remember a Fatlock opinion that because we won all of the meaningless games at the end of the season that we would miss out on an impact player that we need on defense like DJ.

I like the speed comparisons of DJ to DT but DT couldn't cover and am sure there are a lot of areas that DJ won't match up to DT.

This is the most excited I have been in a pick.

My favorite Salisbury moment was his Breakdown segment during the 1997 National Spelling Bee episode of Cheap Seats. "He's like, 'See you bitches later!' Can you spell overconfident?"

The fact that we even ended up with him is pretty awe-inspiring in its own right.

Love Clayton, hate Salisbury. Why don't they just pair John with Mort or Kiper?
