Tynes arrested today...

ELLSWORTH, Wis. -- Kansas City Chiefs kicker Lawrence Tynes was charged Wednesday with breaking a bouncer's nose in a bar fight, a felony with a maximum penalty of 3½ years in prison.

Tynes, the NFL's first Scottish-born player, turned himself in Wednesday morning and made his first appearance in Pierce County Circuit Court on one felony count of substantial battery and one count of misdemeanor battery. He was released on a $15,000 signature bond.

He practiced with the team Wednesday. Practice broke up before word of the criminal charges got out.

The fight allegedly took place early Sunday morning at a bar in River Falls, where the Chiefs have their training camp.

A police report said Tynes hit a bar patron in the face, then hit the bouncer in the nose.

Tynes was charged after police received medical reports, River Falls Police Capt. John Stapleton said. Wisconsin law provides for a felony battery charge if the victim has a bone broken.

Two other players, defensive tackle Junior Siavii and safety Greg Wesley, were arrested early Sunday after allegedly getting into a drunken confrontation with police in a Minneapolis hotel. Each is charged with one misdemeanor count of disorderly conduct, and Siavii is also charged with a misdemeanor count of fifth-degree assault.

Tynes won the kicking job from veteran Morten Andersen last season but has struggled in training camp this year.

At least it wasn't a slap fight like Lowery and whats-his-face got into on the sidelines.

royr17 08-17-2005 02:14 PM

Is Martin Gramatica still a colt, if not lets pick him up.

Mile High Mania 08-17-2005 02:21 PM

So, is 2005 the year of the felon in Kansas City?

Apparently, we are trying to outbeat 1998.

Next thing you'll know, Chris Bober is the head of a ring smuggling Jamaicans into New York City.

Why not everything is a felony now anyway. I like how being better at fighting gets you the felony charge. Gotta love a kicker that can break a bouncers nose. I am a big Tynes fan now.

Dremel 08-17-2005 02:32 PM

He can connect with his right arm know if he can just concentrate
on the right foot and things should be ok!!

Would that be a technicality? I mean, a nose is just cartilage, right? So, technically, he didn't break any bones.

Better forward that point to Larry's attorney.

Who wins in a fight between Tynes and Donks punter Todd Steroidbrun

Depends on how much Tynes has had to drink I think.

Put our boy (Todd) back on the roids and we can have a cage match.

htismaqe 08-17-2005 03:11 PM

This is what Holthus alluded to Monday morning on Des Moines radio.

He sais something about Tynes' weekend "off the field" but then acted like he shouldn't have said anything.

Rain Man 08-17-2005 03:17 PM

Maybe Tynes and Sauerbrun can tag-team against the Gramaticas.

Poster Nutbag 08-17-2005 03:28 PM

Do these dumbasses realize they're f@*#ing up a possible SuperBowl run?

Just as I actually start BELIEVING that its possible, I find out Bam Morris somehow made it back on the squad.

Although, I can just see Tynes laying a Scottish whoopass on some unsuspecting bouncer. I Love that!

:banghead:

Halfcan 08-17-2005 03:31 PM

They announced the are finally retireing "Black Betty" as the kick song. This year will be "Jail House Rock"

chefsos 08-17-2005 03:42 PM

Where's HemiEd? I'm concerned. He leapt from the Siavii bandwagon to Tynes', and apparently carried some kind of affliction with him. He must be stopped.

KC Dan 08-17-2005 04:39 PM

From the River Falls website:
"Kicker Lawrence Tynes has an interesting pre game ritual when he is in Kansas City - he hand washes his car before games at Arrowhead Stadium. "Weather permitting," says Tynes. "I don't have to do it, but I like to do it." It is a ritual he has kept through college and the CFL. When asked if he has any pre kick rituals he simply replied "no.""

From me:
"In interrogations with local police this morning, Tynes admitted to finding bouncers to punch hoping to break their noses as a new an improved ritual. He is hoping the new ritual reduces those pesky once-a-day-wide-left-kicks of late"

Chan93lx50 08-17-2005 05:00 PM

Ha, how would you feel if you were a bouncer and you had your ass handed to you by a kicker!

Time to find a new job!

"The Lonesome Kicker"

Me, I'm the Lonesome Kicker
Extra points, field goals at your service
One might think it comes with glory
You might think different after you listen to my story

My helmet is equipped with a tiny face mask
What it possibly could protect, I do not know
The other guys on the team
Like to make fun of my little shoulder pads
And also like to hide the special shoe
I need to kick in the snow

People think it's so easy
To kick a field goal from the 30 yard line
They forget to add seven yards for the snap
And 10 more 'cause the goal posts are pushed way back

In 1974, the uprights were right on the goal line
But some of the players were running into them
And getting hurt
So screw the kicker
Who cares about the kicker?

But I kick that ball
And I pray it goes straight
If it does
The coach says "Good job, number 8"
He doesn't even know my name is
Andre Kristacovitchlalinski, Jr.
But that's the life I live
The Lonesome Kicker

Kickoffs can be so very scary
Especially, if the returner breaks on through
And I'm the only guy on the playing field left to tackle him
I don't want to get hurt
So I pretend to tie my shoe

Once again, I'm ignored by my teammates and all my coaches
"Go back where you came from!"
Scream 70,000 fans
Well, I know I could win their love back
By catching a winning touch-down
But, unfortunately, I was born with these very small hands

And I hope that the cameras don't come in too close
'Cause they might see the tears in my eyes
As I sit on this bench made of cold-hearted wood
And the splinters go deep in my thighs
And the towel boy snickers as he walks by
The Lonesome Kicker

Another blocked kick
And everybody blames me
But it was the Left Guard
Who didn't pick up his man
Oh, why can't they see...

In my home country
I could have been a minor league soccer player
But I came to America
Seeking fortune and seeking fame
I didn't realize that if I shanked one
And blew the point spread
Some drunk guys would push me into their hibachi
After the game

So I go home at night
'Cause I never get invited
To go drinking with the other guys
And I sit in my chair, and I soak my foot
As I eat a plate of cold french fries
And my wife's out with her quote-unquote friend
And my son can't look me in the eyes
But that's the life I live
The Lonesome Kicker

Kicking for you
They took my snow shoe
They're going for two

These guys have 3 1/2 weeks to get their act together. This really is not good when players seem to accomplish more in the police log than they do on the field.

But look on the bright side...at least the Chiefs won't be matching the Royals' record for consecutive losses in a single season.

IIRC, he slapped the ball boy becuase the ball boy gave the officials the wrong ball, which he missed a FG or something like that.

Was it Aguair who used to lay wood on tackles whenever he got the chance? I remember one of our kickers liked to tackle.

I actually have a lot of respect for Tynes, can you just hear the bouncer...

"You're going to kick my ass, oh year right, well Mr. Kicker, I'm not on a

Time for training camp old style...............LOCKDOWN!!

BigRedChief 08-18-2005 06:37 AM

Lack of focus on whats important thats how this occurs.

Someboday said the Chiefs suck while you were in a bar? They said your gonna get cut because you suck? They said your mamma did what? I'm shocked! You know you are a target. Why even go into the bar? And if you do expect some people to tell you you suck. If you can't keep from getting mad then don't go to bars.

To instigate the fight to throw a drink on someone then you get physically under control by the bouncers and they tell you its over and just leave the bar and you say okay and they let you go and you turn around and hit one in the nose. WTF? Wheres your judgment?

And don't try to give the police a BS story you were attacked for no good reason. Theres a video tape moron. ROFL
