Vote for the six greatest NFL players from this list. Part 2 of 4

Second set of the finest players from each NFL team. Pick six.

Rain Man 08-19-2005 02:06 PM

I went with (in order) Rice, Montana, Brown, Thorpe, Campbell, and Lambert.

ct 08-19-2005 02:07 PM

oh come on, I can only pick 6? that's just wrong man...

Dick Butkus
Jack Lambert
Jerry Rice
Jim Brown
Joe Greene
Joe Montana

Sucks I can't vote for Campbell or Sayers.

Rain Man 08-19-2005 02:12 PM

Yeah, I hated to leave Greene and Tarkenton off of my list.

My vote mirrored yours.

This was a tough list to pick from.
Far more difficult than the first one, IMO.

Saulbadguy 08-19-2005 06:02 PM

Emmitt Smith
Jerry Rice
Jim Kelley
Earl Campbell
Joe Montana
Jim Brown

RedDread 08-19-2005 06:21 PM

Namath shouldn't be on this list

old_geezer 08-19-2005 06:46 PM

Awesome list to choose from. I went with;

Butkus
Sayers
Lambert
Brown
Thorpe
Green

Leaving Rice off was a shame, but I just couldn't bump any of the others off to make room.

Saulbadguy 08-19-2005 07:19 PM

I don't see how anyone can leave Rice off the list...greatest WR of all time.

I made my choices by asking myself "if I was picking someone to be on my team, who would I rather have playing for me?" Rice IS arguably the greatest WR to ever play the game. However, I think the players I chose would benefit me more than a WR.

edit: I think the Chief's have shown that a great WR is not absolutely necessary for a great offense.

Even though I didn't vote for him, I guess I could see someone voting for Namath...

Not only did he play in the Super Bowl that shook the NFL to it's foundations, his signing by the Jets and his (at the time) huge contract almost certainly was the final straw that broke the NFL's will and forced them into the merger with the AFL...All in all, he did figure into some key moments in NFL history....

chiefs4me 08-19-2005 08:22 PM

I wanted 8...but I chose only 6 so skipper wouldn't nag at me....

Thomas,D
Butkus,D
Lambert,J
Rice,J
BrownJ
Montana,J

Saulbadguy 08-19-2005 08:23 PM

Derrick Thomas shouldn't be on the list at all.
