No Televised Game = Boycott

This is BS I have not missed a game in almost 15 years. I have blown off girlfriends, missed friend's weddings, ignored family. And they aren't going to show me the game because of BS contractual obligations?!?!

I say we organize a boycott of the NFL for the following week. If we can get enough people together we can make a difference. Press releases to national media, the whole she-bang.

I pay lots of money every year to be a fan. A boycott would affect me even more because I live in San Diego and was planning on going to the game...

Viva le Revolution....

mac58 10-20-2005 01:13 PM

Let me get this straight. You're going to get even with them not showing you the game by not watching the game?

Oh hell. I'm sure Tags is in search of a rope and a chair at this very moment.

Sometimes you just have to rise up against "the Man"

I think his point was that your plan has zero effect on the NFL. You not "watching" a game changes nothing on thier end.

If we could get this whole board to boycott and then get some national media attention, it could make a difference.

Saulbadguy 10-20-2005 01:29 PM

Do you know what would be funny? The Hurricane tailing off east and missing Florida all together.

Now that this is official.... BUMP

Frazod 10-20-2005 06:35 PM

Well, if and when the game is eventually broadcast, since I'll already know the outcome, I'll TiVo it, watch it after the game is complete, and skip the commercials (the only reason I don't do this as a matter of course is because of the LIVE aspect of game). Somehow I doubt if I'm the only one who'll do this. I certainly wouldn't want to be one of the advertisers for this game.

Of course another option is to boycott the advertisers (which I pretty much already do, since I don't drink pisswater light beer).

I have become so annoyed with all the commercials, that I deliberatley build a 30 minute cushion into the TIVO, so that I can blow through the ads. I try to do that at all times. Its all about total number of near live Reps I can watch without paying extra for it.

You can watch a whole other game in the time they suck up showing you commercials.

Certainly not at the moment.

Ironically, I watched the Chiefs/Redskins game from the Chevy skybox at Arrowhead. I didn't mention the Mustang thing. :D

If it wasn't for participating in the game thread, I would do this. The average football game is nearly two hours of commercials. It's sick.

Actually I don't think the commericals are not all that bad anymore if you use that time to follow other games online and post on the planet. Also lots of time to get up grab a beer without missing anything.

I would love to participate in the game thread, but for now, the internet is just at work, and Directv and Tivo are at home. I am sure that will change at some point in the future, but for now, that is how it is. How has CP performed during games this year? The few times I have been here during a game, and it melted down, every time.

Raiderhater 10-20-2005 06:59 PM

Why don't you look into a lawsuit as well.....

Mr. Kotter 10-20-2005 07:02 PM

Sorry, I'll bitch, complain, and whine with the best of us....but when it comes to game time (most any game), I'm tuning in.
