CP Webcam of the Dolphin Game

Okay, I'm no techie.....but it would seem to me, that all that's needed to solve this dilemma is:

1. Big screen TV
2. Webcam
3. Host/bandwidth
4. Benevolent & Industrious CP poster/member living in the KC area
5. Website that CP members can log-in to

WHO is gonna BUCK up for us? :hmmm:

:D

chiefsfaninNC 10-20-2005 02:28 PM

I hope this works. I want to see this D with Warfield playing. I think the aggressiveness should rise.

joesomebody 10-20-2005 02:30 PM

I'm definitly interested...

Is there anyway to directly feed into a webcam like broadcast, much better quality if you could input through the output on your cable box/satellite feed through some type of web broadcast.

I have cable, so am not ready to switch to Direct TV... and am not sure I could afford the 200 bucks a year anyway...

I will be the first to state:
I will put in a free twelve pack to anyone who can get the game video/audio live on the internet that I can access and watch Friday night. I am thinking that plenty of other planeteers would be willing as well. You would also be a GOD amongst mere mortals.

I would be able to get the feed onto my PC and somehow get it out to a person or two, but the bandwidth to stream an entire game to a large audience would be a problem. Good luck, slag, on figuring it out!

I don't see what's illegal about showing something over your own webcam.

angel 10-20-2005 03:05 PM

before every game, they have a legal disclaimer about the game being the property of the NFL and any duplicating or something or other is prohibited

I think re-broadcasting over a webcam is part of the no-no legal jargin

If it's legal then why is the only website that's doing it based in Canada? (and still getting sued by the NFL)

Yeah, exactly.

The NFL reserves the rights because they get hundreds of thousands per game from their affiliates in exchange for the right to air the program and sell advertising along with it. Once they let pirated broadcasts take over the well runs dry.

I don't have any idea really....I know webcams USE to be pretty crappy, years ago. I just assumed that quality and resolution, and affordability, had improved dramatically since then.

Mile High Mania 10-20-2005 04:40 PM

Yeah, I think if you guys do a "re-broadcasting" of this game... you don't want it afflilliated with this site.

chiefsfan58 10-20-2005 05:03 PM

eh, this stuff is all really simple to set up... you can stream using a variety of apps on CNET, here's an example of one:

http://www.download.com/PYSoft-Broad...?tag=pdp_prod_

All you need is some sort of AV input (tuner card, webcam, s-video in, etc.) and a shitton of bandwidth. These applications typically allow the setting of bandwidth limits per user (ie 20 kb/sec), and also allow you to specify quality/size of the video stream.

I have a shitton of bandwidth in my dorm... so if I'm lucky enough to happen to get the game up here in Boston, I'll get it up and running as soon as it's on. So basically, if you guys want the game, you need to find someone with a ton of upstream bandwidth and a video/audio source that can connect to the PC. And of course this is blatant copyright violation regardless of whether or not compensation is provided for the service. But I don't think anybody here gives a ****. =p

DaFace 10-20-2005 05:05 PM

OK, I've got my satellite (with Topeka CBS) hooked up to my PC with video in. The only thing I can think of is to stream it out via an instant messenger program of some sort. If anybody has a better idea, or if you'd like to help me try this out, contact me via MSN Messenger - [email protected] before 7pm CDT.

I'll try chiefsfan's program. We'll see what happens.

BTW, don't get your hopes up. I've only got 384 kbps of upload space (that's bits, not bytes), so I probably won't be able to do this for more than a couple people.

I haven't tried those specific apps, but you can give a few of them a shot. Here's another that may work well:

http://www.download.com/EnterVision-...ml?tag=lst-4-6

If you're behind a firewall, make sure you forward the ports it's using to your machine. If you don't want to deal with all that, unplug your router and connect directly to the internet. =p

Yep, I don't know how many times I heard ole Dandy Don Merideth say, "This telecast is intended for the private use of our audience. Any other use of this broadcast without the Expressed WRITTEN consent of the NFL is prohibited."

They say it at the end of every game.

Yeah, but if it works (full video and sound), I'd rather pay $250 once than pay $250/year + DirectTV rates for NFL Sunday Ticket.

I could throw this bad-boy on my Dad's TV and we could both watch his cable feed. Hell I could have his HBO & Skinimax too!

"Dear Rhonda,

As a lifelong rabib Chief's fan I'd like to request a huge favor. Can you please do Chiefs fans everywhere outside the KC area a huge favor and call in your favors with the NFL's main office and convince them of the wisdom of allowing the game to be broadcast on ESPN23.

"Dear Mr. Clooster,

As a HUGE Chief's fan myself, I can empathize with your plight. However, it just so happens that ESPN23 is scheduled to broadcast BBW Lesbian-Bisexual Mudwrestling in that time slot. And it's my national debut. As self-serving as it sounds, I'm going to be unable to fulfill your request.
