Reliant was the bomb

Lots of Chiefs fans. We sat next a trio. On the way out we were drunkenly attempting to chant the tomahawk chop.

LJ was just killer in this game. Pass protection was better IMO and the defense really stepped up. Kennison's drop that turned into an INT was awful. So were the two interceptions Texan defenders dropped.

Texans fans were booing, alot. I feel sorry for them.

Warfield's pick six really sealed this game BTW. The entire stadium melted down.

Anyone know Surtain's status? He left the game and didnt come back. I saw him in street clothes.

When the game first came on, it didn't look like half the seats were occupied.

Yeah, but most of the fans left when the score was 31-7 at halftime, or around there.

Hammock Parties 11-21-2005 12:22 AM

Everyone left after Warfield's INT. The rest cleared out when KC went up 38-17.

Those guys really hate the Texans.

Also, Samie Parker rules! Thanks for throwing that fade in the endzone, Saunders!
:)

Yep, I'd say they're gonna be making some changes around there next year.

CupidStunt 11-21-2005 12:23 AM

Yeah, it's the Texans, but our D still did an impressive job.

1 ST TD, 1 TD when they got the ball inside our fugging 40, and one semi-lame drive that allowed a FG after a decent stop at the end.

Again, yeah it's the Texans, but they've had some decent offensive performances against other defenses regarded as better than ours.

Spicy McHaggis 11-21-2005 12:24 AM

How was the stadium itself? Nice place to watch a game, good atmosphere? (aside from later when the ass kicking took place).

Hammock Parties 11-21-2005 12:25 AM

BTW, our D-line kinda sucked IMO. Very little pass rush until late in the game.

The DBs and LBs played very good games though. Warfield played pretty well.

Special teams coverage sucked ass.

Yeah, it's nice. I had seats in the nosebleeds and still enjoyed the view immensely.

Hammock Parties 11-21-2005 12:31 AM

I tried to pay attention to any open receivers Green was missing, but I dug the hell out of the playcalling today.

On the long incompletion to Eddie Kennison, Trent missed a WIDE OPEN Tony Gonzalez over the middle though. I also saw Samie Parker open on a couple of slants. Get him the damn ball!

The INT drops were brutally bad.

I also noted that LJ didn't want to be taken out when Dee Brown was trying to get in the game. Seemed kind of selfish to me.

Colquitt had an average game IMO. A couple of his punts didn't impress me at all.

LJ wanted the Chiefs rushing record. I'm glad to see they went for it... although part of me was a little nervous, especially considering Houston was getting sloppy and picking fights and ripping people's helmets off and such....

Heh, yea. Frusteration can do that to them, especially being 1-9, and getting embarrased on National TV.

I think it was partially the record and partially LJs mentality. I don't know his personality from interviews or anything but during the games it definitly seems like he just wants to run with it at every opportunity. Hopefully that strong desire he has will last.

Its a hell of a nice stadium. Has a modern feel but its not overdone.

Marty Mac Ver 2.0 11-21-2005 12:55 AM

GoChiefs-

I was there as well, section 504, front row. Great game. Trent's arm still looks weaker (take back to last week's thread) and he had time to throw. :)

Kennison's drop was the 22nd dropped pass by a Chiefs player this season. I think we have the top mark in the NFL.

FWIW, getting out of the south parking lot at Reliant Stadium sucks.

Tribal Warfare 11-21-2005 01:12 AM

I wouldn't be too joyous about this, because this was the Texans. Furthermore, it was an average performance for the Chiefs D-line for one, not sacking Carr more he should have been roadkill. Domanick Davis had 13 carries for 57 yards that's a 4.4 yard average. This all dictates that KC needs mor help on the DL particularly at D-Tackle. The DB's played nice, but I wouldn't praise them too much sense their scheme was limited to short routes to the sidelines. KC played good, but the Texans shot themslves in the foot with plenty of dumb errors and penalties.

Would you rather have a new stadium like Reliant, with a retractable roof, or a renovated Arrowhead and a rolling roof, for the same price tag?

As much as I love Arrowhead, Reliant is much nicer. IMO the fans and tailgating make Arrowhead the place it is rather than the actual stadium itself. Probably would depend on the extend to the renovations to Arrowhead but I would lean towards a whole new stadium.

I would much rather have a new stadium with a retractable roof, than a renovated Arrowhead with the rolling roof, if the price tags are nearly the same.

I read that Reliant cost $455 million, and the Arizona stadium will cost $350 - $375 million. Both have a retractable roof. Maybe if we gave the naming rights to HOK, they would knock a huge chunk off of the total.

Dunit35 11-21-2005 01:47 AM

Id rather have an outdoor stadium, no retract roof or anything. But Ive never been inside a stadium that was like that so I wouldnt know. Brand new stadium and nothing else. The name better be the same though.

While I agree that it was just the Texans and we should've won that game, I will point out some flaws in your argument. The D-line isn't going to get too many sacks when the offense runs a lot of quick passes. Also, Davis didn't start running wild until the Chiefs were up a lot and were playing pass defense and not caring as much about the run.

All that being said, I do agree that our D-line needs improvement. I hope we draft a top quality DE to replace Hicks next year. I also hope we can find a decent DT to go in the middle next to a (hopefully) healthy and (hopefully) productive Ryan Sims.

They were saying on tv that Houston coaches made an adjustment to make Carr get the ball out after a 3 step drop rather than five steps so he could hopefully avoid the sacks. They game planned that way.

I guess folks missed the timing graphic. ESPN showed that on average Carr was throwing the ball (when he did not roll out) in around 2 seconds or less. You are not going to get pressure on a QB if he throws it that fast.

Hey keep ****ing doubting Kris Wilson! He has caught two of the three balls thrown to him. He is basically a rookie.

As long as Lamar is still alive, it will be a rolling roof.

Here is the blog my wife did for her website after attending the game with Don, her step-father:

i must say i was conflicted as to which team i should root for and which colors to wear… my husband is a die-hard chiefs fan (i think since before he was born), was born in KC, and we now live in KC; BUT i am a native texan and very proud of my hometown. that being said, i wore red. why? i think mostly for the sport of it. and being that don was dressed top to bottom in texans gear, it made it all the more fun.

on our walk to the stadium, a police officer asked us for which team we were rooting? as we were nearing the entrance to the stadium, i was informed by one of the stadium staff that proper attire was required in the stadium and that i could purchase a nice selection of my choice at one of the apparel stores inside. see? the fun had just begun.

upon entering the stadium there were a lot of chiefs fans in attendance, and i even received a chiefs flag from someone who was handing them out to everyone in chiefs attire. i was ready for kickoff.

once we arrived in our seats i was asked by the guy next to me if i thought i had made a wise decision sitting so close to the edge of the upper level. (niiice, huh?) good thing he wasn’t a scary man and he was smiling when he said it… altho, that shouldn’t have been any consolation and i made a mental note to keep an eye on him. every time the chiefs scored i stood up, jumped up and down, hollered and waved my flag. i stood up A LOT in the 1st and 2nd quarters. in the first quarter, one lady texans fan shared with me how nice she was and explained it was because of this that she was not going to spill her beer on me. uh, i would think that she’d keep her beer in the bottle if only because it costs an astronomical $6.50! but ok. in the second quarter, another texans fan tapped me on the shoulder after i had just sat back down and politely said, “uh, ma’am, i’m going to have to ask you to stop screaming.” yeah, riight.

at the end of the 1st half, poor don lost his “fun” factor and i think even pouted — just a little. chiefs were up 31-7. texans fans were pouring out of the stadium and most of them never came back. the texans fans boo’ed their own team a couple of times — that’s just not cool. i hope those were the people that left. good riddance.

the second half seemed a lot longer than the first, but the chiefs stayed on top and continued to score. more ribbing from the texans fans peanut gallery whom surrounded me, another unoriginal thought to push me over the railing, blah blah. and then the not-so-scary-guy next to me said something really funny… he told me not to get so excited. that the chiefs aren’t that much better than the texans; it was just that the texans were “out-sucking” the chiefs.

so at the end of the game, chiefs were “out-sucked” by the texans 45-17.

my husband probably won’t find that as amusing as i did.

You know, if you replaced Texans with a female noun, and Chiefs with a male noun... this paragraph would almost sound like an orgy.
