Damn I saw that one fight where Tyson hit some tin can and he went down like that but was still throwing punches.

Dave

That's a hell of a shot.

ChiefsFanatic 11-21-2005 04:57 PM

I did not see it, but from a description I heard, Franklin had knocked him out before, but the ref didn't think he was out and didn't stop it. Then Franklin hit him twice more and knocked him out again.

I got that from an MMA site.

Yeah Rich hit him and Nate went down and Rich thought it was over and just started backing up, but the ref told him it wasn't over. Nate got back up before Rich could get on top so Rich destroyed him with the second knock out.

beavis 11-21-2005 05:18 PM

That was the most devastating hit I've ever seen. It's lucky the guy wasn't seriously injured. We all thought the worst when we saw his leg sticking up in the air.

beavis 11-21-2005 05:20 PM

That shot that's posted doesn't even really do it justice.

picasso 11-21-2005 05:24 PM

Holyfield knocked out Alex Rodriguez (sp) in his first heavyweight professional bout just like that, stiff as a board, except the dudes legs were shakin' and his eyes rolled back in his head.
Awesome!!

HC_Chief 11-21-2005 05:31 PM

DAAAAAAAAMN!!! :D

No doubt I thought that maybe his brain had ruptured or something.

Freekofnature 11-21-2005 05:50 PM

Quarry didn't deserve to be in the ring with Rich and it showed.

Problem is besides the Crow (who had already faught recently) there is no one at 185 in UFC who stands a chance against Rich.

Somewhat.

Eh I think it can be would argued that there "were" about 5 fighters who deserved the shot more than Quarry. Not really about standing a chance, but more of deserving it.

Lindland, Marquardt, Salaverry, Terrell, Crow, and Baroni.

Freekofnature 11-21-2005 06:40 PM

Horn might have not been a bad idea either.

Well I would agree with Lindland and Salaverry, but they are both out of the UFC, so is Baroni he has been fighting for Pride.

Horn would have been a much better test, I wonder how far in advance he had signed to fight Prangley though.

Yup, if you can take a beating from Liddell, I think he can take a punchfrom franklin.

Only thing I don't like about Rich is that he is a huge fighter at 185.

A guy who could fight in the HWs comfortably if he wanted too.

Freekofnature 11-21-2005 06:49 PM

To be fair, that is a case with alot of fighters so.....

Not sure about HW, that's a big jump. But he could fight at 205 no problem, I would love to see Franklin v Liddell

I've been seen him fight at HW with Fulton and Ryoto comfortably making weight.

Unfortunately, UFC cut those fighters that were contenders.

Unless, they can bring in some top fighters back again, Rich stays at the top for a long time.

Rumor is Baroni is coming back and will be fighting Leben on Super Saturday Jan 16 on Spike.
Salaverry has a chance to come back, but I think Lindland is done, he did something he was told directly not to do.

Freekofnature 11-21-2005 06:59 PM

The addition of BJ Penn and Ortiz is huge.

Props to Dana.

yeah the LHW and WW divisions in UFC are unbelievable. Mir is back to so Arlovski will actually have some competition.

Rain Man 11-21-2005 07:03 PM

Wow. I just watched the clip. That guy will lose the ability to count past 50 when he's old.

If Penn can come back in top shape, I think he can take back the WW.

I don't believe that Ortiz will ever be Champion again, but he'll keep the division entertaining and be a test for those up and comers.

I think Matt will take BJ, Matt is much better than he was when BJ beat him plus I think he tokok BJ lightly. Still it will be a great fight. 170 is very entertaining in UFC With
Matt
BJ
Karo
GSP
Sanchez
Diaz
Sherk
Trigg

The best thing about Tito is he is a huge draw, he has lots of fans. More sell outs, more money = more fighters. Tito v Shamrock 2 will be a huge seller.

I don't believe in that excuse.

BJ was a force and he had no reason to take him lightly. And you have a fighter like BJ in your face you don't go lightly.

BJ dominated him pretty bad. And I'm not too sure about improvement.

Iowanian 11-21-2005 07:37 PM

Did Hughes win?

The link isn't working for me.

I'd put money on Matt in that rematch. The only one who has a real chance of beating him right now is GSP.
