Dolphins' Williams tests positive for drug use

RICKY'S GONE OFF THAT SHIT AGAIN

http://www.miami.com/mld/miamiherald/13913976.htm

Quote:

Dolphins running back Ricky Williams faces at least a one-year suspension from the NFL after testing positive for drug use a fourth time under the league's substance abuse policy.

Two sources confirmed a report by WSVN-TV that Williams had failed the test, although neither would say the substance Williams used. On three previous occasions, Williams had tested positive for using marijuana.

Dolphins spokesman Harvey Greene declined to comment Sunday night.

''Because of the confidential nature of the league's substance abuse policy, we can't comment on any aspect of that program,'' Greene said.

Williams returned to the NFL this season after retiring for the 2004 season. He missed the first four games of the season and was fined an additional four weeks of salary from the second and third violations of the substance abuse program.

Those positive tests had occurred in December 2003 and in the 2004 offseason. Williams returned to have a productive season.

Williams has spent much of the offseason in Northern California studying yoga and holistic medicine.

Hammock Parties 02-19-2006 08:58 PM

DAMN, we simul-posted.

jspchief 02-19-2006 08:59 PM

Now can we quit hearing about how Nick Saban is good with troubled players?

listopencil 02-19-2006 09:00 PM

The good news: This means I won't have to put up with the Broncos signing him.

The bad news: The crosshairs are on TO.

58-4ever 02-19-2006 09:01 PM

I'm going to smoke one for Ricky tonight. ROFL

KcMizzou 02-19-2006 09:04 PM

Reminds of that song by Afroman.

"I was supposed to play profesional football, but I got high, but I got high, but I got hiiiiigh."

chefsos 02-19-2006 09:05 PM

Ricky, Ricky, Ricky.

:shake:

Shit, I can't even type that with a straight face. Bwahahahaha!

tk13 02-19-2006 09:08 PM

I still think the Broncos should trade for him. They could probably use an expert in holistic medicine.

Demonpenz 02-19-2006 09:10 PM

Dunit35 02-19-2006 09:33 PM

If they did that "ALL" Raider fans would be in jail, not just 30% of them, including past and current players.

chief52 02-19-2006 09:42 PM

Wow...poor guy really has a problem. To not be able to give up pot for all that money. Damn, just put in a few more years and you will be able to buy all the best reef you could ever smoke.

greg63 02-19-2006 09:51 PM

What? No way; I simply refuse that Williams would do such a thing.

I think he was framed cause he likes yoga.

Halfcan 02-19-2006 09:55 PM

That may be. They didn't, and couldn't, specify that it was weed.

I like weed as well as the next guy but Jesus Christ we're talking millions of $ here. When you see his interviews he is always smiling and is just as nice a guy as you'd ever want to meet. It is really a shame. I hope he isn't flipping burgers a few years from now.

From a poster at finheaven...

We once shot a DIRECTV commercial with him. He couldn't remember any of his lines.
I figured it was just 'cause he's a football playah, but now it all makes sense.

"i smoke two joints in da morning...I smoke two joints at night" (hey that could be a post in the "one hit wonder" thread!)

The spin machine is out of control over at Finheaven.

Everything from " let him retake the test when he gets back from vacation, the NFL can't control what he does in the off-season" to "there was something in his yoga medicine".

I can't believe how many of those homers are sticking up for him. You couldn't get a player like that off my team fast enough.

Oh, you mean the other Ricki thread and this one wasn't speaking of separate incidences?

Hog's Gone Fishin 02-20-2006 08:59 AM

Yep, it's official , I just heard on the news that Ricky Williams was seen walking down the street yelling
"Here Kitty Kitty"

A 'missed' exam also counts as a failed test. He may not be back on the bong, but missed yet another test.

RNR 02-20-2006 10:54 AM

As I have said before he is the Joe Don Looney of today. It is always sad when a player has a chance for greatness and throws it away. I just don't get it and I guess he does not either.

Not sure if he missed the test or not, but he would not be missing the test if he were clean. He knows he is out for the season if he misses a test. He must be dirty...

HolmeZz 02-20-2006 11:32 AM

He missed the test because he was in India.

Let's be a little realistic here, I'm gonna take a wild guess that Ricky Williams isn't the only NFL player who smokes weed. I'm gonna guess like people we know in life alot of them do. Ricky's just the only one whos dumb enough to get caught doing it.

The thing that makes me laugh about all this is weed is in no way a performance enhancing drug and I could really careless if people smoke weed. Ricky likes to smoke weed and obviously doesn't care who knows or what rules or in place. I don't personally smoke weed but I think it's a nothing thing.

My opinion on the rule doesn't have anything to do with my opinion on the entity's right to enforce it.

I might not agree that the speed limit on X Avenue is only 25 mph. But the minute I choose to acquire a drivers license and drive on X Avenue, I submit to the rules set forth. If I don't want a ticket from officer Fife, my two choices are drive within the speed limit or don't drive on X Avenue.

Maybe pot is harmless. But Williams and every other player agrees to the rules of the NFL the first time they cash that check. Whether or not the rule is fair is of no consequnce. They chose to live with it.
