Bring on the F/A's....Chiefs got some dough

104 mil, probably about 6-8 mil to spend.

ChiefsfaninPA 03-08-2006 08:09 PM

Yeah, well, so do 31 other teams.

kczoo 03-08-2006 08:11 PM

I still dont want Owens, but if we land a DT and or a cb, Ill be stoked. WR still an issue as always

jspchief 03-08-2006 08:12 PM

I wouldn't count on it.

My guess is the team will choose to not do some of the restructures they had planned on doing.

Bwana 03-08-2006 08:15 PM

Is now the time when we get 50 threads about obtaining Law?

big nasty kcnut 03-08-2006 08:16 PM

It's time to play the feud.

I think you are underestimating the utter rediculosity that is about to begin.

kczoo 03-08-2006 08:18 PM

Screw Ty Law and Sam Madison thread. Dont want geriatric corners

Wile_E_Coyote 03-08-2006 08:18 PM

Good point, my bad.

Sorry to burst so many bubbles, but I seem to remember King Carl stating that he was holding the restructured contracts and not sending them to the league office just in case we did actually get a new agreement. I seriously doubt if he sends many, if any, of the restructured contracts in now. He has said repeatedly that the Chiefs will NOT be players in this year's free angency, and I for one believe him.

Not like that two month differance in their age means anything.

brent102fire 03-08-2006 09:42 PM

CP and Mr. Hunt stated they won't be very active in FA this year. Sounds like they are content being a disappointing, mediocre team with Top-rated offense and a porous defense... :shake: :banghead:  :cuss:

As a Dolphin fan, you are correct. ROFL

Especially if we do get Law. This place will look like NO, people burning cars, celebrating. He is the key to us winning a SB, or so folks think.

This is the reason the Chief's next season is in such question, at least for me. The Chief's organization has said, Herm included, that they are not going to be active in free agency, that they would rather re-load positions with youth (draft or within). That's fine. But, they have also said they will be keeping high priced vetrans as well.??? Are they possibly thinking that they can just insert back-ups or draftees into position's of need and still make a run?? Anyone's thoughts.....?

I think they feel that if Sims hadn't essentially lost the season to injury, he would have made a difference.

With that in mind, and the feeling that this is a deep draft, with a former scout, and defensive mind at HC, they can improve the D with a heathy Sims, a couple of good picks, and more involved HC on the defensive side.

I can accept that as a good strategy.! The Chief's were able to infuse youth, and lot's of speed, into the defense in 1997 and it worked well. They replaced 4 players on defense with second year players. What they lacked in experience, they made up for in speed and aggressiveness. 97' was a good year for the defense. Question is, can they duplicate something like that? Hopefully so....

picasso 03-08-2006 11:55 PM

We are still missing a corner regardless of whether you guys think that they will stick to what they have now. Washington is a decent #2 but NOT a #1. Plus we still need to unload Woods and Bartee.

Yes, corner is important. However, I don't think the best corner tandem in the league could fare well with the amount of time our front seven has been giving opposing QB's. Their needs to be more pressure up front for the secondary to be successfull...

Washington is also a free agent, and I'll bet money we don't re-sign him.

:bravo:

Maybe Herm will finally do what this team has needed for so long -- build the team through the draft.

You mean like last year when they were active in FA or are you referring to 2003?
