***Your Hometown Team vs. the World Champs Game 2 official gameday thread***

Royals took Game 1 after their 6 run comeback against Jon Garland & co.

DeJesus will not play today because he strained a hammy (i think).

Costa will start in his place, though I'm not sure who will lead off.

Pitching Matchup is Javier Vasquez v. Denny Bautista.

Bautista is exciting, but needsto develop stamina and consistency.

1:10 first pitch on RSTN.

If you want to follow along, I'll be watching the whole thing.

Dr. Johnny Fever 04-08-2006 11:25 AM

Together we can.

Sure-Oz 04-08-2006 11:30 AM

I thought the game wasn't on RSTN, yesterday they said their next game was Tuesday....

I heard WGN from TK i believe....

Yeah, you're right. Thanks, I was getting pissed flipping through my channels.

Hammock Parties 04-08-2006 11:43 AM

What channel is WGN?

banyon 04-08-2006 11:55 AM

22 in Lawrence

15 in KCK-Time Warner

22 on Comcast-Overland Park

3 on Cox-topeka

How about on DirecTV, bitch?

tk13 04-08-2006 12:05 PM

Your official Denny Bautista homer, checking in. Tough lineup to face today.

banyon 04-08-2006 12:07 PM

Is anybody else getting the blackout message on their WGN?

tk13 04-08-2006 12:08 PM

Hmm, that sucks. We had that discussion yesterday, I didn't know if WGN blacked out the games or not.

Damn, what am I TV guide?

307 on Direct TV KCK.

BTW , sometimes "please" works better than "bitch"

Why would they black out a game that we didn't sell out?

Isn't that usually when your own town doesn't sell out a game?

Is it being blacked out in Chi-town?

Hammock Parties 04-08-2006 12:12 PM

Bautista is on my AAA team on my MVP baseball franchise. He's got a heater.

banyon 04-08-2006 12:14 PM

well, I guess its Ryan and Denny for me. :(

Hammock Parties 04-08-2006 12:16 PM

That was some nice pitching on Thome there.

Hammock Parties 04-08-2006 12:21 PM

Threw too many pitches.

tk13 04-08-2006 12:21 PM

Nice! Made Piersynskzkzkzi look silly. Denny was a little wild but I thought he got squeezed a bit on Iguchi. Let's get some runs.

banyon 04-08-2006 12:24 PM

costa leading off?

Grudz should've done it.

tk13 04-08-2006 12:24 PM

Grudz with the double!

banyon 04-08-2006 12:28 PM

Reggie-Reggie!

Sweeney still on the schnide.

tk13 04-08-2006 12:31 PM

Crede clobbered that and it just died in LF.

banyon 04-08-2006 12:35 PM

Since I can't see, are the flags blowing straight in?

tk13 04-08-2006 12:37 PM

Errr, pretty close I think, at least in from left. That ball Crede hit really died in LF.

That's gotta be in our favor against a team that swings for the fences like the ChiSox.

banyon 04-08-2006 12:41 PM

I heard that.

The boos were pretty loud at that dude too.

banyon 04-08-2006 01:08 PM

0-1 Sox :(

SF by Crede.

Hammock Parties 04-08-2006 01:10 PM

Bautista's had a solid four innings...impressive.

Pitt Gorilla 04-08-2006 01:10 PM

Straight dealin' by Bautista.

tk13 04-08-2006 01:11 PM

Nasty. That was a nice piece of hitting by Crede to get the sac fly. We need to get some offense going.

Bako isn't framing the pitches worth a damn. Many of Bautista's pitches that have been called balls seemingly could have been framed as strikes. :shake:

A couple of his walks have definitely had some borderline pitches. He finally got one his way there to strike out Anderson though.

seemed like Bautista thought that he should've had that 3rd strike on Thome.

tk13 04-08-2006 01:24 PM

Turned a DP on Podsednik, nice.

Hammock Parties 04-08-2006 01:24 PM

Bautista is hot shit.

banyon 04-08-2006 01:24 PM

Nice inning from Bautista after the leadoff walk.

ChiefsCountry 04-08-2006 01:25 PM

Watching the Springfield Cards, Anaheim has a really good looking SS, Brandon Wood. Would love to get him in the Royals system.

Eleazar 04-08-2006 01:25 PM

No TV here, Time Warner of KC.

Not having the picture sucks but I'd rather hear Denny and Ryan anyways :thumb:

IIRC, there were some trade rumors surrounding him last year but ANA wanted too much.

Berroa is hitting well right now and not playing badly in the field either. I'd like to see the team stick by and work with him.

Calcountry 04-08-2006 01:27 PM

But can you guys score?

weak grounder to second.

I can see why Anaheim wanted so much, good glove plus he hit 43 home runs last year.

Calcountry 04-08-2006 01:28 PM

weak pop to short.

Wood was listed in my Sporting News preview as the BEST prospect in the minors for 2007 opening day.

The Angels probably want to hang on to him.

banyon 04-08-2006 01:32 PM

wow too many leadoff BB's

banyon 04-08-2006 01:33 PM

hey there's that "Go white Sox" guy yelling again.

Hammock Parties 04-08-2006 01:35 PM

That was a heck of a throw.

You guys deserve to win today!

Eleazar 04-08-2006 01:35 PM

Bako guns the runner to end the inning!

I hate the White sux. I think the Injuns are going to be the team to beat this year.

They just missed it last year, I was really impressed by the way they handled the A's down the stretch last year.

tk13 04-08-2006 01:35 PM

Bako throws a strike to nail Iguchi. Nice throw.

Wood is a HR MACHINE. Wow, does he hit for a lot of power. He and Billy Butler have a pretty equal bat, but Wood obviously knows how to play defense.

siberian khatru 04-08-2006 01:37 PM

Really brave of y'all to pimp the guy with the best stuff on the starting staff. :p

Yeah he is, he hit one the other night here in Springfield that was a monster shot with the wind blowing in.

whose had control issues.
But...
he's finally learned that if he lets up a bit on the velocity, he can control the pitch better, and he's still practically unhittable because his stuff darts and dances.

Hammock Parties 04-08-2006 01:40 PM

The Royals are trying to sabotage the game with a juiced rubber!

He just took one on the elbow.

Hammock Parties 04-08-2006 01:44 PM

OK, well he got any base anyway. Way to take one for the team.

Coach 04-08-2006 01:44 PM

Heh, I will bet that Sweeney is going to leave the game with this injury.

Edit: Guess not, much to my surprise.

Royals take the lead, 2-1!
