"Gay" Music??? I really don't classify music as gay or straight, but...
Well, let's see... Who's obvious? For the Gay Blades: Little Richard Culture Club Elton John Frankie Goes to Hollywood Village People David Bowie Lou Reed Queen Bauhaus Duran Duran Black bundle of sticks (great band name anyways) For the Flannel Clad Carpet Munchers: Melissa Ethridge kd Lang Indigo Girls Sarah McLaughlin Anne Murray Annie Lennox For the total pervos: Gary Glitter R. Kelly If you want to find out about gay bands, there's a website (imagine!) http://www.gaybands.org That's super! Thanks for asking! |
I like nearly all their stuff:
Queen (were any besides Freddie gay?) David Bowie Judas Priest (Halford is the only gay member, though, as far as I know) I like some of their stuff: Culture Club Elton John Scissor Sisters Marilyn Manson (maybe the bi thing is just for gimmicks, I dunno) Straight, afaik, but they sure have a "metrosexual" flair, and I like a lot of their stuff: Duran Duran Frankie Goes to Hollywood Tears for Fears A Flock of Seagulls A-Ha Adam Ant In a league of their own, but faaaaabulous: the film cast of Rocky Horror (Richard O'Brien is admittedly bi; I'm not sure about Tim Curry) |

Heart Carrie Underwood A few songs by Barry Manilow Weird Al (although I don't think his music is that gay, but my critics do) |

Scissor Sisters - Take Your Mama
It's about a gay guy who's trying to tell his mother why he's not hitting it off with the chicks (more or less). It's got a good beat/melody. Kind of Elton Johnish. |

If so you better go back and listen some more, those girls in the 70's could rock-n-roll,in fact you need to hear the covers of the Zep songs they did. |
Who's that guy that was doing some gay stuff in a bathroom? George Michaels? I like some of his stuff.
|
I second the George Michael, and sprinkle on a dab of Wham!
|
Shit.
Depeche Mode New Order The Cure I sense a strong correlation btw new wave and homoness according to the thread starter :hmmm: |

David Bowie and Freddie Mercury are two of my all-time favorites, gay or otherwise.
|
Okay, by obviously gay, are we talking, members of the band are gay, or gay lyrics, or both?
Queen members were not all gay and most of their lyrics are not gay, like mustafah, tie your mother down, and so many more. Judas Priest however, geesh, did Rob write anything that wasn't gay oriented (an overstatement, but still) I like The Ripper, Beyond The Realms of Death and tons of Judas Priest songs. Let's see, I like the song "Breakfast at Tiffany's"... I think most of today's newer "pop[ular" music, sounds like a bunch of whining fucking maggots. Here is a prime example, the band "New Found Glory" calls themselves a "punk"band. Check out the song, "This Disaster" what a bunch of girls. what has happened to dudes!!! Okay, I am obviously getting carried away here, sorry carry on |

The music (the stuff that I liked) didn't make him gay it was the whole "having sex with another man in the bathroom" thing that made him gay. |

The only Cure CD I ever owned was "Mixed Up". It was a collection of extended versions and remixes of older songs. I played the hell out of that CD. I like the "mixed up" versions more than the originals. (basically the remixes were the originals to me)

By the way, I stand corrected about Nancy being married to their ex-bassist. It was one of their ex-guitarists with whom she was romantically linked, though they never married (she eventually married Cameron Crowe). Nancy was dating guitarist Roger Fisher in the late 70s, while Ann was dating his brother, guitarist/manager Mike Fisher. |
I don't usually do the pop genre, but I like Kelly Clarkson. Shhhh....

This thread took a different direction than I expected. I thought it was going to be about music you like that is popular with gay men. I was expecting to see some of you admitting to liking Gloria Estefan and Whitney Houston music.
And this thread had such great potential. Oh well. |
