Your third home...
If you were quite rich and didn't have to work, and could have three homes in the continental United States, where would they be?
If you could have three homes in the world (which can still include the U.S.), where would they be? In the continental U.S., I'd go with a place in Manhattan, New York, a place in Vail, Colorado, and a place in Laguna Beach, California. Worldwide, I'd still want a U.S. base, and I would probably make it Vail, Colorado. Then I'd have a place in the Marquesas, Tahiti, and a place in Paris, France. |
One in KC - 5 kids and (currently) 4 grandkids require me to be close by.
One on a Carribean beach. One at the lake of the Ozarks. (Actually we already have a place, but I'd build a bigger, nicer one.) |
I'm going with:
A HUGE custom built Log Cabin in Manistique, Michigan A nice Antebellum Home in Southern Louisiana, probably New Orleans or an outlying town Finally, I would have to build on Paradise Island on Nassau, Bahamas |
Cardiff, CA
Fort Myers, FL Las Vegas, NV |
What's in Manistique, MI, and Cardiff, CA?

Manistique is in Michigan's Upper Penninsula. I lived up there for a while in the 90s, during my 1st marriage. It's so beautiful, the people are very, very friendly; it's alot like Fargo, lots of funny, quirky characters. It's not very developed and it's right on Lake Michigan; best thing of all? NO RAP MUSIC, LOW Crime and people still know what customer service is. Also, lots of wildlife, snowmobile trails galore, land everywhere untouched..ahh, what a place! |
I must someday visit this mythical utopia of Manistique.

1) Build a big ass house right here in Springfield, close to family and great place for the kids.
2) In the mountians, probably Colorado. 3) By the beach for the kids, Florida panhandle or Miami beach. World.... New Zealand Greece Central Europe |

Compton, East St Louis, KCK (anywhere on Quindaro)

I want my family compound to be in Vegas. I want a ski condo in a nice area but not so nice that I have to wear Louis Vuitton tampons. And I'll take one sprawling beach party house in San Diego.
Other countries scare me. |

Since I have no real desire to live outside the US. Don't mind visiting just would rather stay in the US.

Main Reason http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v2...le13aerial.jpg http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v2..._Vineyards.jpg http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v2...waerial_lr.jpg Plus you got the moutains and the ocean with in a couple of hours 2.Destin, FL - Just because we have a lot of family memories there and to us it is a beautiful place. 3. I know it is not flashy but probably get a few acres here in Springfeild and build a house. Love the area for family and raising kids. |

U.S.-
1. I'd buy 100 acres or so and build a big house where I grew up in Central MO. 2. Somewhere near mountains - Mammoth, CA or Vail, CO or Brian Head, Utah - someplace like that 3. A nice home on the beach in San Diego International- 1. Same as #1 from above 2. I'd buy the resort that my wife and I stayed at on our honeymoon - Phuket, Thailand 3. I'm thinking somewhere in Australia with this one. I've never been there, but my wife has lived there and raves about it. |
Jax, FL
Schwarzach, Austria Island of Rhodos, Greec |
Custer, South Dakota for summers.
Scottsdale, Arizona for the rest of the time, except I'd need a condo near Arrowhead for game weekends. |
1. Huge azz condo, CPW.
2. High on a bluff at Lake of the Ozarks. 3. Greek island. |
1. Central MO, secluded couple 100 acres of timber.
2. Gotta Admit, the mountains here in northern Utah are awesome... If I'm rich I can import beer, so that's covered. 3. Cabin somewhere in Alaska near the ocean. 1. Central Missouri 2. Northern Japan 3. Some tropical island... only place like that I've been is Hawaii, I'd prefer a less touristy tropical island though. |
Houses stay in U.S. visit the world.
Big Log cabin spread on 100 acres wilderness in central S. MO where land is still reasonable on Current river. Condo in Chicago downtown area. Beach house North of San Diego. |
US - Chicago, IL; Estes Park, CO; Richmond, VA
World - Madrid, Spain; Sydney, Australia; London, England * Not listed in any order of preference. |
One in Jackson Co. Missouri
Another in Florida, west coast The third in SoCal, San Diego area maybe. Really not interested in living out of the country. If I'm that loaded, fancy resorts for cross-border/pond travel is fine by me. |

Bend, Oregon (Would love to retire here someday)
La Jolla, Ca (Only because I am rich, otherwise this could not happen) Sedona, Az (My wife would kill me if I didn't include this one) Worldwide - I agree with those who would rather not buy out of the country although I would prefer to get something (buy or rent) wherever I travelled so I can stay there for 6 months or more to get the "local flavor." Lucerne, Switzerland is the one exception to this. I have been once and still think it was the most beautiful place I have ever seen. |
