what is your favorite bar and why? I'm visiting for one night tomorrow for the Tool concert and I'm looking for a cool place to hang out post-concert. I'm staying at the downtown Marriott.

You might try Tanners over on Broadway. Walking or more important crawling distance from your hotel.

Yeah if your staying downtown,Tanners or The Quaff, maybe Johns Upper Deck, those are all in walking distance from you. It all depends on what type of crowd you want. If you are going to see Tool, might be worth the cab ride down to Westport to go to Buzzard Beach it is a pretty good spot after shows

Young professional urbanites, more of a sports bar or college type bar.
Just drove by tonight about 8:30 and it was packed to the gills.

Yeah, crawling distance is preferable but I will accept anything within stumbling distance.

Dont live in KC but I like Kelly's in Westport.

I'm going to be moving to the Westport area in tminus 2 weeks. I can get drunk, then go to the bar, then stumble a few blocks home. Glorious

If you're going to Tanners, Waldo Pizza next door has better beer at cheaper prices but it's not much of a bar. It's better if you have friends to hang out with.

I like the velvet dog and empire room...they are right next to each other so if one sucks you can go to the next.
