Here's a head start on the thread of the most grueling test of golf in the world. Winged Foot is a beast, it could be like watching lambs thrown amongst a pack of coyotes and pent-up Kansas wheat farmers.

One more thought--If I ever build a golf course, I think I should name it Clubbed Foot.

Go Tiger. Win it for your dad on Fathers Day.

Interesting name for a golf course.:hmmm:

SCTrojan 06-15-2006 05:59 AM

Gonna be a great weekend - U.S. Open, College World Series, Stanley Cup, Father's Day. Can ask for much more than that.

Go Tiger!

Bootlegged 06-15-2006 06:17 AM

Your 2006 winner, Jim Furyk.

Sam Hall 06-15-2006 07:47 AM

All I ask is that either Tiger or Mickelson is in the hunt on Sunday. Winged Foot looks like another grueling course. It won't be very watchable if those two aren't in contention.

'Hamas' Jenkins 06-15-2006 08:17 AM

I think I may hang myself if Furyk wins another open. He may be the most boring man alive. I'm sorry, but any man who has a topless Brittney Skye running at him to hand him a rose and just stands there like an offended puritan definitely deserves a place in the douchebag hall of fame.

'Hamas' Jenkins 06-15-2006 08:19 AM

Mickelson drops a nuclear bomb slider from 35 feet to go to even par. Helluva putt. E through 9. -1 leads.

BWillie 06-15-2006 09:49 AM

I don't think Woods or Mickelson will win, this course does not favor long bombers who stray the ball even a little. I'd go with the field over those two. I'd love to see Woods get the win on fathers day though, what a story that would be. I wouldn't mind Furyk won too, he's a bald guy who has an ugly swing...like me. So I respect

Lurch 06-15-2006 10:05 AM

Golf? Isn't that the one they chase the little white ball around the pasture? It's kinda like soccer; only even more boring.

Furyk may be the world's ugliest man. He's got his one major...given the quality of his game I'd say that's a fairly accurate depiction of his ability.

Willie, I will say this...every course always favors long bombers if they have a good short game, which both of the aforementioned do. Given the up and downs Mickelson has made today, it would be hard to bet against him, as he had a subpar ball-striking round at best.

Furyk will win this year's open the same day that Tiger joins the Ku Klux Klan. He shot his wad today. He lacks the strength to gouge the ball out of the rough. He hit the shit out of the ball today and shot the same round that Mickelson did hitting 60 % of his fairways and less than half of his greens.

Nice.

If Maltby calls a SW a Sand Iron one more time, someone should gouge out his piss hole with Concertina wire.

I just want to say I hate people with "US Open Games", hence my displeasure for Furyk (well that and his total lack of personality). With that being said, watching people with US Open Games is like watching "Clay Court Specialists". I enjoy people who hit the ball a long way and all over the golf course, like me, and who play the game with a dash of flair and copious profanity (like myself as well).

Yeah Tiger looks out of it. I feel bad for the guy, and he has 10 majors. He's obviously not the same so far. Maybe it's the lay off, maybe it's because he's still not over the loss of his father, or maybe both. All I know is the hardest thing to do after not playing for a while is the short game.

So, so true. He hasn't even dropped the obligatory F-bomb yet.

'Hamas' Jenkins 06-15-2006 12:25 PM

If he goes to +4 through 4 he's in deep, deep shit.

Bootlegged 06-15-2006 12:52 PM

Man Tiger - that was a nasty start. What is it w/him and Thursday at a major?

RockChalk 06-15-2006 12:55 PM

Tiger Tiger Wood y'all. I don't know why most golf fans (who for the most part don't know sh*t about the game anyways) require that Tiger be in the hunt on Sunday to make it worth watching on TV. There are plently of other great golfers to cheer for.

The Swedes have a long standing policy of Sexcapade Wednesdays. Without his legs under him, the Tigger just can't expect to have his A game.

Bootlegged 06-15-2006 01:54 PM

Tiger is fooked.

RockChalk 06-15-2006 03:06 PM

Tiger is really fooked. BTW, why does he act as if he is the first person ever to have a father die. I mean the media plays this thing up as if Tiger would be achieving the unthinkable by winning the Open. Yeah, his dad died..tragic. But 100s of dads die everyday, he's not the only fucking person to lose a parent.

Anybody else see the guy's putt on hole #1? (Dean I think). He barely touched it and it rolled, and rolled and rolled.... clear off the green.

WilliamTheIrish 06-15-2006 07:01 PM

My favorite player did pretty well today. Ol' Freddy Funk, short hitter that he is, played the course in +1 today. I'd love to see Freddy pull this off. It'd be a real feather in his cap at 50 years of age.

Sam Hall 06-15-2006 08:47 PM

I think I can speak for everyone in saying that I sure as hell hope Monty doesn't win. Today was supposed to be the best day for scoring. I have a feeling this could get ugly.

Funk's an easy guy to like, but I don't know if his putter will hold up long enough for him to win. I think he can contend, but I don't know if he can win.

NBC's sports coverage has been in the shitter. They need ratings. Tiger's sentimental story probably = ratings.

The thing that bothers me the most about the Earl Woods thing is that if his kid wouldn't have had all the talent that he did it would have been little different than Marv and Todd Marinovich (not quite as psycho though). To lionize the guy because his son hit the genetic lottery just doesn't make very much sense to me.

Bootlegged 06-16-2006 09:51 AM

Tiger is toast. Probably will miss the cut.

'Hamas' Jenkins 06-16-2006 09:52 AM

Stricker shoots 69 with a hole out on the last hole despite yanking the monkey piss out of his last 5 irons. He's tied for the lead. Definitely headed for a 79 some time on the weekend.

Bootlegged 06-16-2006 10:43 AM

A solid 76-76 for Woods. +12. He'll have to pray for an afternoon earthquake to make the cut.

I agree with you there. NBC sports sucks, but I can tolerate their golf coverage a little more than ABC golf...Man I hate watching a round of golf on ABC. All you can hear is the sloshing sound of Tirico sucking Tiger off.

The 10 shot rule and Stricker's miracle finish effectively eliminates Tiger. Shows you how brutal golf can be. It has no sense of sentimentality, I guess. Perhaps one of its selling points.

Thank God...now we can watch people golf this weekend instead of watching Tiger play every single shot even though he wouldn't have a chance of winning. It gets old hearing announcers say "and here comes Tiger" after making a birdie on the 12th hole on sunday while he is still 15 back...

'Hamas' Jenkins 06-16-2006 01:11 PM

Phil just blew his chances on 5,6,7, really the only stretch of birdie holes on this course. He should have played them -2. Instead he stands at +2. If he continues to fuck up the par 5's (+1 for the tourney), he's going to be in deep shit.

'Hamas' Jenkins 06-16-2006 01:30 PM

Ferrie playing out of his mind is at -3. Smile now, because he's shooting 77 tomorrow.

'Hamas' Jenkins 06-16-2006 02:08 PM

This is quickly turning into a redux of the '05 U.S. Blowpen, complete with a bunch of no names scraping around the golf course playing out of their minds.

back to reality Ferrie

WilliamTheIrish 06-16-2006 03:09 PM

Fred Funk finishes round 2 at +6. I only saw his first two holes and he was swatting it outta the rough on both to start boge-boge.

Oh well...

'Hamas' Jenkins 06-16-2006 03:25 PM

If Phil can get in at +1, he'd be in great shape. I could see a final pairing of him and the world's ugliest man on Sunday.

'Hamas' Jenkins 06-16-2006 03:37 PM

And Phil throws a mf'in laser dart into 16. He's got about 4 feet for the bird.

'Hamas' Jenkins 06-16-2006 03:43 PM

And he blows it. :cuss:

WilliamTheIrish 06-16-2006 04:15 PM

Are my eyes deceiving me? Is Duval in at -2?

WilliamTheIrish 06-16-2006 04:35 PM

Mickelson with a boge on 18 to finish +3 for the day and +3 overall.

He pissed away a bunch of shots today, playing 5,6,7 even when he should have played them -2. Missing that short birdie at 16 and then bogeying the last. The only consolation is that he's only 4 off. He should have a 68 or 67 in him the way that he's been playing of late. If he shoots it tomorrow, he'll take control of the tournament.

WilliamTheIrish 06-17-2006 12:18 PM

Peter Hedblom has back to back eagles to start his 3rd round. Gets him right into the mix...

WilliamTheIrish 06-17-2006 12:21 PM

I take that back... Hedblom is -4 thru 6 holes.

WilliamTheIrish 06-17-2006 12:22 PM

Villegas is a klown.

WilliamTheIrish 06-17-2006 12:25 PM

Phats making his way to the tee.

What a whale...

WilliamTheIrish 06-17-2006 12:32 PM

Phil pulls his tee shot waaaaaay right. It hits a tree (I guess) and get spit out in the fairway.

Late birthday present.

WilliamTheIrish 06-17-2006 12:36 PM

Mick and McDowell (good N. Ireland lad) both hit the GIR.

'Hamas' Jenkins 06-17-2006 12:38 PM

Phil's tee shot was a Lee Janzen-esque break.

'Hamas' Jenkins 06-17-2006 12:39 PM

Villegas is the next coming of Sergio Garcia--a guy with a media friendly game who doesn't have a chance in hell of ever winning a major.

WilliamTheIrish 06-17-2006 12:42 PM

I must have missed something. Did I hear that Hedblom went ace/eagle? Not eagle/eagle?

WilliamTheIrish 06-17-2006 12:43 PM

Furiously Hideous?? That guy is so goddamned ugly the size of the universe is measured by the distance between his looks and those of someone who is even marginally attractive.

WilliamTheIrish 06-17-2006 12:47 PM

Whew that first green is a real mother. Furious hit within 6 feet and it rolled away to 20+

And Harrington drops his about 4 ft above the hole..

Nice pairing..

Good god Phil, you can hit that FT3 in the fairway, you know...
