CB's on the chopping block

Now that we got our guy, who gets cut? To me it's either Battle or Hodge, or maybe even both. Sapp stays for his blitzing skills, Walls was signed to be our #3 CB all along, I believe. Maxey might be a CBotF possibility when Law goes to FS in a couple of years, but he goes to the PS this year.

StcChief 07-24-2006 01:13 PM

Burntee
Battlle/Hodge. tough call now.

htismaqe 07-24-2006 01:13 PM

Maxey goes to the PS. Either Battle or Hodge gets cut.

htismaqe 07-24-2006 01:14 PM

Bartee has been permanently moved to safety. The signing of Law has no impact on him.

Dunit35 07-24-2006 01:14 PM

That's one thing I don't like about Ty signing here.

I want Battle to be cut...but really I don't care who goes just as long as the CB who stays stepped it up enough.

Fish 07-24-2006 01:38 PM

I'm gonna guess Battle is retained and Hodge or Maxey will take a PS slot.....

I don't believe Hodge is eligible for the PS.

big nasty kcnut 07-24-2006 01:53 PM

Bartee goes he suck and we don't need suck.

sedated 07-24-2006 01:53 PM

From what Herm has said during OTA's, he really likes Hodge.

Archie Bunker 07-24-2006 01:58 PM

I see no reason to keep Sapp. I would rather have a more well rounded CB. Im pretty sure any CB on the roster could telegragh a blitz, get to the QB and then miss him completely.

Same here.

Surtain (sp), Law, Walls, Hodge, Battle

Why not?

htismaqe 07-24-2006 02:29 PM

Gunther loves Sapp.

Wasn't Hodge a rookie last year?

Montique Sharpe played about 3 games at the end of his rookie season then was on PS the entire next season IIRC.

htismaqe 07-24-2006 02:39 PM

I just looked it up. He wasn't active, so he's still eligible.

would we put two cb's on the practice squad?

with the acquisition of law, do we put hodge and maxey on the ps?

sounds like battle may be the odd man out...

herm likes hodge, gunther likes sapp, surtain and law are obvious and walls seems like a sure thing at nickel...

maxey to the ps, and battle out the door?

he's never really had a chance to show his stuff (other than a penchant for penalties because he hadn't learned how to play without using his hands all the time, like in college)...

with all the coaching he's no doubt received since then, he may have learned to play nfl style and if so, he would be a good cb for us...

could they decide to cut walls? wasn't he brought here by the db coach or something?

this should be a tough call unless one of the backups reallys steps up in tc to take a place on the roster...

Your post brought me to an interesting revelation.........

Last season about this time we were wondering how we were going to adequately replace Warfield during his suspension... this year the concern is over which backup(s) will have to get axed...... and the decision is between several backups with potential.....

Ohh what a difference a year makes.... PBJ
