Mr Roaf, please retire NEXT year!

One speculation about Willie Roaf "retiring" has matched my very thought since I first heard about it. I can't shake the thought that this could be only a strategy to legally avoid the rigors of the preseason camp and the hot July and August days. I wouldn't be surprised if right before the start of the regular season Mr Roaf is "talked" into unretiring. Frankly, I have no problem with it. I think Big Willie has earned the right to have his job back immediately. If all this is a possibility, and if Svitek is half as much the heir apparent to Roaf as we are told, then it stands to reason that we will need Roaf for exactly one more year. A very crucial year in which he can serve as Svitek's mentor and role model. I can see games when Roaf is pulled out in the 3rd or 4th quarter in favor of applying more on-field seasoning to Mr Svitek, thereby lightening the load on Roaf's battered body. Another incentive for big Willie to consider.

Having set this up I'm thinking it may not be a bad idea for us KC Chiefs fans to start a pettition aiming at Big Willie in which we shower him with much deserved love and the fact that our collective lives will be hell without him protecting Trent's blind side for JUST ONE MORE YEAR.

What do y'all think? Who's gonna start? I'll be the first one to sign. Somebody, get off your duff and write it up!!
:)

I don't see this scenario as totally out of the question, but it might be a little wishful thinking at this point. All though leaving 3.5 million on the table has to be a hard thing to do. Not to mention it would be the biggest annual salary he has ever received. I guess we'll find out in a month or so.

Nobody did last year when Roaf was injured. That does not create a lot of confidence in me for this year.

Much better. Thanks for asking. There's some permanent damage to the heart that I can't do anything about. But I am making lemonade.

That's good news/bad news. The best thing is that you are feeling better instead of taking a dirt nap. Hope you continue to improve.
