For whom and what position?

Nope. Had to flip pizzas after school so I could afford VANS sneakers and Op shorts.

Wish I had, though. I would have been a mean kicker. I was a bike racer and we had a pickup game in college and I was kicking off and booted the thing like 70 yards each time.

My parents wouldn't let me play, so I sought solace in the saxophone in the marching band. I would hit people with it.

If I did play, I'm pretty sure that I would've been all-state, though. Pretty sure.

PastorMikH 10-12-2006 08:57 PM

Our HS was so small they didn't have football.

I did play pee wee while in school at Columbia, Mo. But I moved in 7th grade to Hallsville, Mo and didn't get to play in organized ball anymore.

When I did play, I was on the DL.

I'm also a Middle Linebacker on the basketball court.

I played till my sophmore year. Broke my collar bone in practice, then rebroke it in a locker room fight. After that I got a job, and just sort of stuck with that. I wasn't really very good at it anyway. After I grew a bit, (and fell in love with the Chiefs and the NFL) I always wished I could go back.

I sure did. I played for Swampscott High School, in Swampscott Ma. '93-'95. I was 5'-10' and 190 lbs. I wore #56 and played the line.

On offense I played center, left and right gaurd, and left and right tackle. This won me lineman of the year on my team for being able to play every role at any point of the game.

and on deffense i played D.Tackle and Nose Guard.

Pembroke Hill, OT and DE - graduated 1989

I was starting as a junior and got hit with mono part way through the season. Ended up missing a chance to play in the state quarter-finals that year. Got All District and All Conference my senior year and was recruited by some small Div III, and Div II schools. I ended up going to CMU and decided partying non-stop was more fun than football so stopped playing. That's one I wish I could take back.

Freshman year I had my legs run over by a minivan right before football started......
summer before Sr year, about croaked, had hospital time, still had broken ribs when school started...no contact sports.

In between.....Wedge Buster, OG, OLB-DT-S....whereever they Told me to go hit someone. I wasn't big, wasn't fast but had no fear of contact.

Versailles, 5'2" 145lb OG/DE 1994

Small + Slow = Bench

I was a 13 year old freshman (started school early) and only saw mop-up duty. I ended the year with 2 tackles and 1 sack. I didn't get a growth spurt the next year and the coach curiously "forgot" to tell me about the start of mini-camps. :(

NewChief 10-13-2006 08:04 AM

Played DE and TE until my Junior year. I lived on a lake and owned my own boat. When two-a-days rolled around, hanging out on the lake and picking up chicks at the dock sounded a lot better than going to practice.

Kerberos 10-13-2006 08:08 AM

Played for Riverton High School in Wyoming from 81-83. RB/PR/KR/CB then moved to Goodland Kansas my Senior year. We were 9-2 and ranked fourth in the State in 4A until we lost in the playoffs. I wanted to play college ball, but the track scholarship I was offered changed my mind as I really needed the funds for college. :)

My stepbrother is the starting TE/DE. He's ok but Blue Springs this season has this monsterous DE like Julius Peppers size who just dominates and will go D1. He's injured with a broken toe right now though I think.

Yep. Nick has got one heckuva running back. I told him it was easy to look good with Preist Holmes in the backfield. I was corrected and told it was Reggie Bush.

The game at BS south is where Nick hurt his shoulder early and the whole thing went downhill.

It's fun to have another local team along with the Chiefs to root for.

Yeah I heard he was hurt but haven't heard how long he'll be out. He is one big dude for a HS guy.

1992-1996 Eureka High School, Eureka, Kansas. Played a lot of positions, but mainly DE, DT, MLB, FB, TE, C, G. Coaches tried to make me the "jack of all trades" I guess. Never won less than 6 games, never won more than 9, so pretty average, I'd say.

DanT 10-13-2006 10:57 AM

I played at Lincoln Academy (now Lincoln College Prep, I think it's called) in the Kansas City (MO) School District. I was a varsity letterman as a sophomore (1981 season), when I shared the left guard position with another player (he and I were the messengers who brought in plays from the sidelines, so we each played every other play). I also was the placekicker, but we never attempted one in a real game ;). I also was a practice-field wonder as a punter, but I shanked the one chance I was given to punt in a real game. ;)

I was a varsity captain my junior year, when I played left tackle. I think I might have been the long snapper that year, as well. I was pretty good at that, having been a center in the years before high school. I didn't play my senior year. My college (the University of Chicago) wanted me to play for them, but I declined.

This time of year, when the weather gets a certain way and the grasss smells a certain way, I want to run around administering open-field hits on folks, but I think they have laws against doing that sort of thing during business hours in downtown Sacramento.

DanT 10-13-2006 11:04 AM

My brother jettio was a DB who delivered spectacular hits week after week. I don't think he ever played a game where the day after I didn't hear from fans and coaches about the shots he inflicted on foolish opponents who thought they had a size advantage on him.

That was crazy, but not unexpected. The guy lived on the practice field and wasn't always fully aware of his surroundings. Football really was life for that guy.

BucEyedPea 10-13-2006 12:10 PM

Never played tackle football. But I did play touch football once, coed, with some friends at age 13. I remember it was a blast. Don't recall the position because I didn't know position names then, but I got the ball tossed to me and I did score a touchdown. Woot!

burt 10-13-2006 12:37 PM

I was too small 'til my Senior year(that's why I wrestled). I was a running back until I sparined both my ankles. I wouldn't have started anyway because there was so much BS politics in the Football program. Another reason wrestling was so great, you wrestled off...the best wrestled vasity. NO POLITICS!

Raytown South High '91-'94

WR/CB

'94 2nd Team All-Conference Wide Reciever off of 10 freaking catches for the whole year. It would've been more, but coach had to make his son, a sophomore at the time, an all-state running back. He failed. As you can see I'm still a little bitter about that.

I odvious did not play HS FB (I'm female). However, I attended the "honors" in the school district. Some girls at the school tried to organized a powder-puff team. The principal was so opposed he told the girls any girls caught playing FB on school grounds was kicked out of the school for good.
