Car Gripes

Okay, when exactly did car makers decide to automatically lock all the fucking car doors without one's approval? If I wanted my car doors to lock, I would lock them.

Also, when did they start making "put your fucking seat belt on!" noises? I always wear my seat belt, but occasionally it takes me a few seconds before I get around to securing it. Do I really need an alarm?

JBucc 10-16-2006 05:03 PM

It's for your own safety. Don't question the auto manufacturers.

You know what I hate? Those nets in the trunk. Always getting tangled up in everything.

I like car jackers. I want to be robbed.

It's not Fords' responsibility to protect me from carjackers.

noa 10-16-2006 05:14 PM

I used to have a car that couldn't turn the wheel while the AC was on. I would have to turn the AC off while making a turn and then back on when I was driving straight. Also, neither back door would open more than a sliver and the paint was peeling off everywhere. Since then, all other car problems have seemed minor.

SPchief 10-16-2006 05:17 PM

You know what annoys me? Daytime running lights. WTF do you need lights on during the day?

I haven't turned on a car's lights in nearly a decade. Love it.
I can't go back to a car without keyless remote entry, daytime running lights, heated seats, and steering wheel radio controls. I can't, I won't.

Bugeater 10-16-2006 05:21 PM

Wait until the car gets old and that crap starts screwing up. The stupid door ajar sensor on the sliding door of my 12 yr old van went haywire a while back, every once in while just out of the blue the damn thing would start chiming and even better, the interior lights would flicker on and off. Needless to say, it was quite annoying. For cryin' out loud, what kind of dipshit needs a sensor to tell him if the door isn't shut anyway? Look in the ****ing rear view mirror for god's sake.

You can't ignore my seatbelt alarm. It will drive you nuts.

I always wear my belt, but this alarm helps me to get passengers to buckle up.

I love cars today.

What type of car? GM?

Safety. They claim that it prevents accidents. Perhaps so, but it also decreases fuel efficiency.

You know, I agree with most of these. Although I've never turned on heated seats in my personal car. My wife's car has them and she turned them on one day without my knowledge. I thought I was having an aneurisym, or something.

StcChief 10-16-2006 05:30 PM

Daytime running lights are conspircy with lightbulb mfg'ers....to sell bulbs.

Think our dependency on oil is high now...

If all car required them gas would be $5 gallon.

No. I'm just sick of rental cars.

Frosty 10-17-2006 10:46 AM

My Silverado lets me reprogram if the doors autolock or not. Maybe your Ford does too? Did you check the manual?

My wife's Honda does an annoying thing that I haven't been able to get around. If you unlock the car with the key remote, but don't open the door within a minute, it relocks itself. :shake:

Radar Chief 10-17-2006 11:04 AM

ROFL For most of this, you can thank DOT (Department Of Transportation), NHTSA (National Highway Traffic Safety Association) and other similar organizations.
They’re not do’n their job if they aren’t force’n stupid requirements meant to save the dumbasses of society at the expense of increased auto prices.

You probably have the ability to turn both the autolocks and the seatbelt chime off. Call your local dealer's service department and ask them how to turn them off.

Redrum_69 10-17-2006 11:15 AM

Your mom is like a flat tire...when she gets low from carrying all that extra weight strangers will stick their "hoses" in her and expand her frame... sometimes causing her to tear or rip. Oh yeah, and she likes to be cleaned well before she gets a "rim-job"

No one likes a ripped or torn tire.

morphius 10-17-2006 11:15 AM

I like my auto on lights, but hate daytime running lights. I could care less about heated seats, I want seats that cool me off more then anything (and I know some cars that have that). I have a dashboard, I can see when the door is open just by looking at it, and I have to because my son doesn't always close his door hard enough.

Though the feature that would really suck is on my Mom's car, when it sprinkles or rains outside the cruise turns off...

Hog's Gone Fishin 10-17-2006 11:27 AM

Sounds like somebody has sugar in their gas. Better taste it!

Now that would annoy the chit out of me.

Or check your owner’s manual.
